This document classifies yarns into several categories: by staple fiber type (carded, combed, worsted, woolen), by continuous filament type (natural, synthetic), as novelty yarns (fancy, metallic), for special end uses (tire cord, rubber/elastic, core spun, multiply, coated), as high bulk yarns (staple, continuous filament), and as stretch yarns (twist, crimp, knit, stretch under tension). It also provides a flow chart showing the process of making carded yarn from staple fibers through winding onto cones and heat setting.
