1. Vowel Articulation : This refer to how vowel sound produce based on the positioning
of the tongue and shape of the oral cavity.
2. Tongue Height : ☆ High vowels, These are produced with the tongue close to the
roof of the mouth.
-/i/ as in “see” = High front vowel.
-/u/ as in “moon” = High back vowel.
☆ Mid vowels : The tongue is in middle position.
-/e/ as in “cake” = Mid front vowel.
-/o/ as in “go” = Mid back vowel.
☆ Low vowels : These are produced with the tongue in a relatively low position.
-/a/ as in “ Father” = Low back vowel.
5. Lip Rounding : ☆ Rounded vowels, Produce
with rounded lips.
-/u/ as in “moon” = High back rounded
vowel.
-/o/ as in “go” = Mid back rounded
vowel.

lips.
-/i/ as in “ see” = High front unrounded
vowel.
-/e/ as in “cake” = Mid front unrounded
vowel.
6. Nasalization : While
English is not heavily nasal
language, it has nasalized
vowels in certain context,
like in word such as
“Sing.”

improving pronunciation.
