1. CLASS X TRIP: Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary and Thenmala
On November 3rd, the students of Class X embarked on a one-day adventure to Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary
and Thenmala. We set off from Mar Baselios School at 5:15 am and savored a hearty breakfast at Thenmala by 8
am. Our journey led us to the enchanting Thenmala Ecotourism Destination at around 9:15 am, where the
excitement began.
We kicked off the day with a thrilling jeep safari, which proved to be a refreshing experience. Following this, we
made our way to the magnificent Waterfalls and even had the opportunity to climb to their summit. Afterward, a
gentle trek took us to an area adorned with numerous small lands and water features. Here, we indulged in river
bathing for an hour, which, while enjoyable, had its moments of discomfort due to small, pointed rocks in the
water. Many of us ended up thoroughly soaked and had to change into dry clothes before our 1:30 pm lunch.
Our adventure continued with a visit to the aquarium and a scenic journey to the Thenmala Dam site on a forest
bus, where we encountered a bustling monkey population. Following this, we relished some hot snacks and
explored the nearby shops, spending nearly two hours in the area. The highlight of the day was the 7:00 pm light
and sound show with a musical fountain. The dam area was transformed into a mesmerizing, colorful spectacle as
water danced in sync with music, providing a truly enjoyable experience.
As we returned to the bus, we couldn't resist singing and dancing along to the music. At 9:00 pm, we sat down to
a well-deserved dinner, followed by a movie on the bus. Some of our classmates even succumbed to slumber
during this cinematic interlude. We safely arrived back at our school around 11 pm. All in all, it was an immensely
enjoyable and fun-filled trip.
