An expert in real estate investment trusts and commercial real estate, John Westerfield has served Braddock Capital Management for 12 years. As a philanthropist, John Westerfield supports his alma mater, Dartmouth College. An original play by Dartmouth graduate Celeste Jennings (class of 2018) had its premiere on February 29, 2020, at the Northern Stage Theater in White River Junction, Vermont. The work is called Citrus and has been described as a “choreopoem” - a performance that melds music, movement, and spoken elements. In the play, nine actors dance and recite Jennings’ poetry that highlights the challenges faced by American women of color. Originally intending to become a fashion designer, Jennings drew inspiration from a defining work of the genre, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, by Ntozake Shange (1976). Jennings also created the costumes for Citrus’ characters, who come from disparate socioeconomic backgrounds. Citrus was first staged in 2018, culminating Jennings’ yearlong participation in Dartmouth’s Senior Fellows Program. Several Dartmouth students lent their talents to the 2020 performance, which Jennings hopes will be picked up by regional theater companies.
