A New York urologist with more than 30 years’
experience, Dr. Suzanne Frye holds an MD from
Hahnemann University Medical College (now Drexel
University Medical College) and is an attending
physician in the Urology Department of New York
Presbyterian Medical Center. In addition to her career
as a urologist, Dr. Suzanne Frye belongs to the
Circumnavigators Club, an organization that brings
together individuals who have travelled around the
world. The purpose of the Circumnavigators Club is
to encourage global fellowship and world
understanding through travel and to provide a forum
for intellectual exchange.
3.
In addition to meetings and local events, the club
operates the Circumnavigators Club Foundation,
a nonprofit organization that promotes global
friendship and understanding. Since 1971, the
foundation has provided scholarships for more
than 106 university students to participate in
around-the-world travel-study projects the
summer before their senior year. Following an
application process that includes a proposed
itinerary, a detailed study proposal, and the
relevance of the project to the student’s field of
academic study, the foundation awards grants in
the amount of $9,000.

Many grant recipients have been able to
incorporate their travel projects into their
senior theses. Grants have been awarded to
students pursuing degrees in diplomacy as
well as a wide range of international careers
in business, public service, technology, and
the arts.
