Anesthesiologist Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman received an MD from the Duke University School of Medicine and did his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. After completing a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology there as well, Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman went into practice, serving most recently at Virginia's Mary Washington Hospital. He is also a longtime member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.

2. INTRODUCTION
 Anesthesiologist Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman received an MD
from the Duke University School of Medicine and did his
residency in anesthesiology at the University of
Washington School of Medicine. After completing a
fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology there as well,
Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman went into practice, serving most
recently at Virginia's Mary Washington Hospital. He is
also a longtime member of the Society of Cardiovascular
Anesthesiologists.
The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists is a
network of 5,000 anesthesiologists who focus on cardiac,
thoracic, and vascular applications of their specialty. It
offers professional training, resources for physicians, and
opportunities to apply for research grants and other
funding.

3. SOCIETY OF CARDIOVASCULAR
ANESTHESIOLOGISTS
 The Society recently announced a new hybrid
learning experience for physicians. The Society of
Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists’ 2017 Perioperative
Ultrasound Course will provide instruction in
ultrasound techniques, with a focus on the heart,
lungs, nerves, and blood vessels. This class will be
taught partly online and partly in-person. The online
portion will include tutorials and case studies, while
the live portion will offer hands-on training. The one-
day live course will take place May 21, 2017, at the
Loews Atlanta Hotel, followed by the Society’s Echo
Week Meeting the next day.
