Animals circulate blood throughout their bodies using a closed circulatory system. In this system, the blood is transported within a system of vessels called arteries, veins, and capillaries. This allows the blood to efficiently deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues and organs while also picking up waste products to be removed or processed.
