MELC:
Illustrates a circle and the terms
related to it: radius, diameter
chord, center, arc, chord, central
angle, and inscribed angle.
RADIUS is a line segment from the center to any
point of the circle.
CHORD is a line segment whose endpoints lie on
the circle.
DIAMETER is a line segment that runs from one
side of a figure and passes through the center.
MINOR ARC is an arc of a circle that is smaller than a semicircle.
SEMICIRCLE is an arc of a circle whose first and
third points are the endpoints of the diameter,
and the middle point is any point of the arc
between the endpoints.
MAJOR ARC is an arc of a circle that is larger than a semicircle.
CENTRAL ANGLE is an angle whose vertex is the center of the circle.
INSCRIBED ANGLE is an angle whose vertex is on circle and whose sides
contain chords of the circle.
A SECANT of a circle is a line that intersects in two points. It also contains a
chord.
TANGENT of a circle is a line lying on the same plane that intersects the circle
in exactly one point.

Direction:
Read the situation below then
answer what is being asked. Use
A4 size bond paper and insert your
output inside your envelope to be
passed during the retrieval.
You are the youngest in a family of four. You
kindly asked your mother for a snack
because you are hungry after your
Mathematics Class.
But when she checked if there is available
food for you, she found out that your sister
just ate the last roll of shanghai your mother
cooked.
So, she asked your father to buy one box of
pizza, four 22oz of Milktea, 8 pcs of chicken
wings buffalo, and 4 pcs of yamburger for the
whole family. Your father left home at 3:20
PM to buy those snacks and came home at
exactly 4PM.
Your father told you to just eat
your snacks because he needs
to go out with your mother to
practice for the Amian Festival
Street Dance Competition. Your
sister also went out with her
classmates.
You decided to open the box of
pizza first. Then you
discovered that the pizza was
not yet cut. For you to be able
to eat pizza, you have to cut it
into four.
Your father instructed you to just
cut the pizza pie the way you
want it, given that you are hungry
and your sister already ate her
snack.
Given:
1. The total degree of the pizza is
360°.
2. The diameter of pizza is 12 inches.
Question:
1. How many slices of pizza are you going to make?
Why? (5pts)
2. What is the measure of the arc of your pizza cut?
Show your solution. (15 points)
3. What concept have you applied in cutting the
pizza pie? Explain.(5pts)
4. How do problems involving parts and angles of a
circle relate to the problem of cutting a pizza?
(5pts)
Materials:
A4 bondpaper
Compass
Ruler
Ballpen/pencil
Crayon/colorpen
In a bondpaper, draw the pizza pie.
Illustrate how you cut the pizza.
Label the pieces by writing the name of
the person who are going to eat each
piece.
Write the degree measures of the arc of
your pizza cut.
ASSIGNMENT:
• Read about Polygons.
• Different names of polygons
• Angles of Polygons (exterior and interior)
