GitOps: Git come unica fonte di verità per applicazioni e infrastruttura
GitOps è un nuovo metodo di CD che utilizza Git come unica fonte di verità per le applicazioni e per l'infrastruttura (declarative infrastructure / infrastructure as code), fornendo sia il controllo delle revisioni che il controllo delle modifiche. In questo talk vedremo i concetti alla base di CI/CD, ovvero Continuous Integration e Continuous Deployment (o anche Continuous Delivery), pratiche nello sviluppo software che permettono ai team di creare dei progetti collaborativi in modo rapido, efficiente e idealmente con meno errori. Infine vedremo come implementare un flusso di lavoro GitOps usando Github actions e ArgoCD.

At Intuit, we have adopted k8s as our new saas platform and re-invented our CI/CD pipeline to take full advantage of k8s. In this presentation, we will discuss our journey from Spinnaker to Argo CD.
1. Reduce CI/CD time from 60 minutes to 10 minutes.
2. Reduce production release (or rollback) from 10 minutes to 2 minutes.
3. Enable concurrent deployment using spinnaker and argo cd as HA/DR to safely adopt the new platform with no downtime.
4. Be compatible with the existing application monitoring toolset.

He described selecting components like Jenkins for automation, Gerrit for version control, and Redmine for bug tracking. Trunk based development for Beginners
Trunk-based development is a workflow where developers work directly on a main branch called the "trunk". The trunk is always in a deployable state. Short lived branches are used for developing new features which are then merged into the trunk after passing tests. Releases are cut from the trunk periodically. This allows for continuous integration and deployment while maintaining a stable release.
Gitops: a new paradigm for software defined operations
The document discusses GitOps and a new paradigm called cloud native applications. It promotes GitOps as an approach where the entire system, including code, config, monitoring rules and policies are described in a Git repository. Victor Morales presented on implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) using OpenStack tools. He described selecting components like Jenkins for automation, Gerrit for version control, and Redmine for bug tracking. The solution deployed these components on an OpenStack infrastructure using Terraform for automation. Future plans included improving security and supporting more cloud providers.

Trunk based development for Beginners
Trunk-based development is a workflow where developers work directly on a main branch called the "trunk". The trunk is always in a deployable state. Short lived branches are used for developing new features which are then merged into the trunk after passing tests. Releases are cut from the trunk periodically. This allows for continuous integration and deployment while maintaining a stable release.
Gitops: a new paradigm for software defined operations
The document discusses GitOps and a new paradigm called cloud native applications. It promotes GitOps as an approach where the entire system, including code, config, monitoring rules and policies are described in a Git repository. This allows the entire system to be destroyed and re-built with no human intervention. It then describes Automium, a solution the author's company built based on GitOps fundamentals to help with cloud transformations.

Robust Network Security and Observability with GitOps and Cilium
While GitOps is known as a paradigm for managing cloud native applications, not many know it fits within platform management as well. Automating the provisioning and management of Kubernetes clusters abstracts away the issue of inconsistency that you get with cluster sprawl, all while shortening provisioning time by consistent automation.
But that’s not enough. A networking layer is a standard requirement when managing Kubernetes environments, yet traditional IT networking and security methods do not work. By default, Kubernetes environments allow any pod to connect to any other pod, creating security risks. Furthermore, legacy approaches to network security visibility do not allow for performance of threat detection, compliance monitoring, or incident investigations for Kubernetes workloads. Cilium is a zero-trust cloud-native networking layer providing the necessary security and observability of your Kubernetes environments.

Using Docker EE to Scale Operational Intelligence at Splunk
With more than 14,000 customers in 110+ countries, Splunk is the market leader in analyzing machine data to deliver operational intelligence for security, IT and the business. Our rapid growth as a company meant that our Infrastructure Engineering Team, responsible for all the common tooling, build and test systems and frameworks utilized by the Splunk engineers, was bogged down with a sprawl of virtual machines and physical servers that were becoming incredibly difficult to manage. And as our customer’s demand for data has grown, testing at the scale of petabytes/day has become our new normal. We needed a reliable and scalable “Test Lab” for functional and performance testing.
With Docker Enterprise Edition, our engineers are able to create small test stacks on their laptop just as easily as creating multi-petabyte stacks in our Test Lab. Support for Windows, Role Based Access Control and having support for both the orchestration platform and the container engine were key in deciding to go with Docker over other solutions.
In this talk, we will cover the architecture, tooling, and frameworks we built to manage our workloads, which have grown to run on over 600 bare-metal servers, with tens of thousands of containers being created every day. We will share the lessons learned from running at scale. Lastly, we will demonstrate how we use Splunk to monitor and manage Docker Enterprise Edition.

In this session, we will show you how to create a CI/CD pipeline that is really useful for your project, not only for those who are just starting to use CI/CD, but also for those who have started to use CI/CD in some way but are not quite sure of its benefits. The key to success in CI/CD is to make the artifacts (binaries) the center of the pipeline instead of the source code, which is a different way of thinking than most CI tools out there, and requires a Copernican shift in thinking. In this session, I would like to share this "artifact driven" CI/CD with a demo of CI/CD using JFrog Platform, a cloud native DevOps infrastructure.

Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.
