The Running of the Bulls is an annual tradition held in Pamplona, Spain where bulls used for bullfighting are herded through the streets to the arena. It originated in the 1400s as a way to move bulls to market but became a competition where people test their bravery by running alongside the bulls. Today, the event still sees thousands of runners accompany six fighting bulls through the narrow streets as they make their way to the bullfighting ring, with injuries and occasional deaths occurring due to the danger involved. However, animal rights groups protest the tradition as cruel to the bulls.
