Keramoti is a town in Greece that originated as a small fishing village and has grown into a picturesque sea resort known for its sandy beach and hotels. Nearby is the island of Thassos, which relies on timber, marble extraction, olive oil, and honey for its economy. Tourism has also become important since the 1960s. The Nestos River flows through Bulgaria and Greece before emptying into the Aegean Sea near Thassos, forming canyons and a delta ecosystem. Chryssoupoli, located along the Nestos River, was formerly known as Sarışaban under Ottoman rule and hosts the Nestos Nature Museum.
