 Chongqing is China's largest municipality
 Total territory of 82 400 square kilometers, of which the
main urban built area of 877.78 square kilometers
 Total population of over 30 million, with the main city
population of 8 million, 38 county-level administrations
 Chongqing is the industrial center of Southwest
China
 Rich in mineral resources, mainly non-metallic mineral-
based, the largest reserves of coal, iron ore and natural gas
 Main industries: automobile and mechanical, shipping,
precision instruments, electronic and information, chemicals,
medicine (Chinese traditional medicine), metallurgy, food,
tourism
 China’s biggest production center of automobiles (annual
production > 2.6 million) and motorcycles (annual
production > 8 million)
 The biggest laptop production center in the world (annual
production > 100 million)
 For the first half of 2015, Chongqing GDP growth reached
11%, the first nationwide. For 2014 the import-export
amount of Chongqing reached $95.5 billion. By the end of
2014, 247 of the Global 500 have located in Chongqing.
 Chongqing is the inland hub and Eurasia bridge
 The confluence of important rivers, the beginning of the
Three Gorges, and Chongqing Cuntan International
Container Port is currently the largest inland shipping port
 Highly developed railway system with more than a dozen of
lines, Jiangbei International Airport receiving 30 million
passengers per year, highway mileage of more than 2400 km
 Free Trade Zone and Free Port facilitate international
logistics: Liangjiang Free Trade Zone for the first half of
2015 registered 116 billion RMB import-export value
 Yuxinou Railway is the new Silk Road: from January 2011 to
August 2015, Yuxinou transported 30 000 containers, with
import-export value of about $10 billion, becoming a major
logistical thoroughfare between Asia and Europe
 Germany is Chongqing’s most important economic
partner in Europe
 Areas of cooperation: chemicals, machinery manufacturing,
electrical, instrumentation, food processing, environmental
protection, healthcare, telecommunications, finance,
transport and logistics, steel, exhibitions, trade
 By the end of 2014, a total of 49 German companies have
located in Chongqing, with a total investment of $1.16 billion
 In 2004, Chongqing and Dusseldorf became sister cities; in
2014, Chongqing and Duisburg became friendly exchange

 铁路系统发达，疏通十多条路线，江
北国际机场年旅客吞吐量 3000 万人
次，高速公路里程超过 2400 公里
 保税区和保税港便利国际物流，其中
两江保税区 2015 年上半年进出口总
值达 1160 亿元
 渝新欧铁路成为新丝路: 2011 年 1 月
至今年 8 月，渝新欧共运输 3 万箱
货物，进出口总额约 100 亿美元，
已成为亚欧物流大通道

3. Project Pipelines
 High-end auto parts and auto culture
Many of Chongqing auto companies, though capable of producing
the whole automobile together, lack more advanced production
technology and system, and require international cooperation.
Chongqing Investment Promotion Bureau wants to encourage
more general culture of automobile, e.g. theme park, competition.
 General aviation
Purchase of light aircrafts (< 30 seats) and core technologies,
international investment and cooperation, the construction of
general aviation industrial park, opportunities of M&A
 New materials
Chongqing has abundant resources of graphene used for touch
screen, lithium batteries and thermal film, as well as carbon,
copper and bamboo. Industrial parks in Chongqing offer
attractive conditions for foreign investment and joint ventures.
 Traditional and modern medicine
Chongqing has an important base of Chinese traditional medicine.
For modern medicine, there are great needs of medical
equipment, biological treatment, technology importation and
DNA engineering. The government offers partial financing and
other facilities for qualified projects.
 Clean-energy and environmental protection
Introduce solid technologies of solar energy and wind energy,
new method of automobile exhaust reduction, water pollution
treatment, air pollution treatment, quality control system
 Food import and cold chain system
Chongqing agricultural companies have interest in increasing
food import from Europe, given the quality and safety guaranty.
They also need more modernized cold chain equipment and
management system.
 Pension industry and tourism
New business opportunities (consulting, construction,
investment, and related service provision) in the township
restructuring aimed at promoting the suburban tourism for city
residents and the pension industry for an aging population
 Cooperation on education and research
More international student exchange programs and co-working
activities, closer cooperation between university research
centers, industrial clusters and technology incubators

基因工程上与国外有更多技术合作。政
府对优秀项目提供部分资金和配套优惠。
 新能源和环保产业
引进利用太阳能和风能的优秀技术，减
少汽车尾气排放的新方法，处理水污染
和空气污染，质量监测系统
 食品进口和冷链系统
重庆农产企业希望进口欧洲具有质量和
安全保证的食品，同时也想引进更成熟
现代化的冷链设备和管理系统。
 旅游业和养老产业
正在进行的城乡改造，旨在发展城市人
口乡镇旅游和扶持养老产业解决人口老
龄化压力，提供了商业新契机（咨询、
