I make this a cheap block,
so I can break it
to feed the chickens “seeds” so they will breed.
I replace it after
so none can
escape.
This level is on the same level
on the block “next”
to the chest. This
lever can lock the chest
so that when the chickens
lay eggs above, they stay in
the chest instead of being
sent to the dispenser to
spawn baby chickens.
The baby chicken’s
hit box height isn’t high
enough to touch the lava.
Once the chicken grows to
full size, it will touch the lava,
“cook,” and then drop through
the half slab, through the hoppers,
into the chest. It usually takes
20 minutes for a chicken to mature.
The dispenser has a 1/8 chance of
spawning a baby chicken. This is
affected I believe by the drop rate
of eggs themselves from the chickens
above. Remember you can only have 9
of a kind of animal in an area.
I recommend 4 mature chickens up top.
