Cheetahs are carnivorous predators that hunt gazelles, gnus, and other prey at speeds of up to 68 miles per hour, making them the fastest land mammal. They communicate through chirps, yelps, hisses, and purrs. While females typically live alone with cubs, males may live alone or in coalitions of 2-4 males. Cheetah cubs leave their mothers when old enough to survive independently, similar to how human children eventually leave their parents.
