Good character consists of understanding, caring about, and acting upon core ethical values which define a person and guide their actions. There are three qualities that make up character - moral discipline, moral attachment, and moral autonomy. To develop strong character, one must choose a set of core ethical values to live by through religion, experiences, or a personal set of rules, observe how well they live up to those values, and surround themselves with people they admire who also live according to principles of integrity.
