When Maya has no interest in her class material, it affects her behavior, grades, and relationships. She has trouble paying attention, becomes distracted and lazy, stops listening and making eye contact with the professor. As a result, her grades drop because she no longer feels the need to pay attention. She also pulls away from other students and isolates herself. However, studying more with her partner Ross by copying his notes or reminding herself that passing classes is important to achieve her goals could help Maya get more out of the uninteresting class.

When you have no interest in class material, how does it affect you – your behavior, your grades, your
connection to others, your commitment?
When I have no interest in the class material it makes it hard for me to pay attention and then it starts
to affect my grades I become lazy and easily distracted, I become less focus on the work, I stop listening
to what’s going on in class and it’ll become hard for me to maintain eye contact with the professor. My
grades will begin to drop due to the fact that I no longer feel a need to pay attention in the class. I’ll pull
away from the other students; I’ll put myself in totally isolation, and become unsocial toward the other
students.
Next, come up with a positive course of action for Maya that might help her get something out of her
class.
There are a number of thing that Maya could do to help her get something out of class like made she
could have more study sessions with her partner Ross and she could copy his notes so that she could
retain more information or she could find the importance in her work if she were to just put the fact
that in order to achieve her goals and do what she sets on to do in life she has to take these classes, and
that by taking these classes she’ll be learning important life skills.
