1. Makers and Finders
A Cursed Baby Boom Challenge
Chapter 10
I may be hungry, but I have full fun and social, thanks to My Man Matt. He is good. Let's
just say that for once, I was dressed appropriately for the activity, this morning.
Matt followed up by conjuring the day's rations, just in time to head off to the station for
work.
I decided to take a few dips in the dumpsters before flipping the stores, and then joining him
at the station for more inventing.
2. For once, the alarm and engine were not in need of immediate fixing, and he was able to do
some improvements to them. Perhaps his higher handiness skill was making the fixes last
longer? Or they had reached some sort of critical mass, so that they could stay fixed? At any
rate, it looked like it might actually be possible for Matt to fulfill his dream of saving sims.
I found some dumpsters right behind the consignment shop, and looked for things I might be
able to sell, if not store to place later at our house. I really wanted to build a house! Walls! A
roof! Doors! And proper beds. Already, I had a grill, two end tables, two chairs, and a lamp, as
well as a variety of decorative objects. It would be nice.
3. I FOUND A BED! It's just a single. Matt and I will probably have to spend one of our
weekly furniture purchases on a double bed. But, when our first child grows up, he or she will
have a bed!
Of course, we can't even make our first weekly purchases (one each), until I max Invention,
so I knew I had to get back to work on that, as well. We'd probably miss the first week, but hey!
I found a free bed! Fiona Finder, the Bed-Meister. Meistress? Whatever. Nevermind.
I didn't find anything to sell, in the dumpster, but I did find a TV!
4. Matt spent the evening tinkering around the station house. He had finally managed a few
upgrades on the actual equipment! Soon, he'd have Handiness maxed out, and plumbing objects
would be available to place. I knew what plumbing object I wanted to buy: An all-in-one
bathroom. So, I kept flipping the store, making more money, since I knew I couldn't manage to
max Invention by the end of the week, anyway. If we waited another week, we could put down a
complete bathroom, with only one object. The double bed would be our second object, and the
rest would be stuff I had found. It would work out. We'd just need money for walls and doors
and stuff, too.
5. I tried harvesting honey, as well. Honey and beeswax are good ingredients, and one day, I'd
be making my own food and alchemical potions. All in all, I didn't get much invention study
done today, but it was profitable, nonetheless. Hey, we're Makers and Finders, not Studiers!
At the end of the day, Matt was exhausted. Perhaps we should do our fun-times before bed,
rather than first thing in the morning. He needs that energy for work.
6. I turned myself back into my human form, before hitting the ice with Matt. It had been a
very good day, even if we were no closer to being able to put down furniture. I'd buckle down
tomorrow, and just enjoy the glow of good finds, tonight.
Well, and the glow of My Man Matt, lover extraordinaire!
So, readers, do you think I'm handling this well? Should I spend more time studying, and
less time flipping and digging through dumpsters? I mean, yeah, it's dirty, and you don't learn
anything, but I found a bed and a TV today, y'all! But what good does that do if I can't place
them, right? So, should I keep splitting my time (or swapping days) between flipping/digging
and inventing, or should I just focus on the invention skill, and forget the rest? Let me know
what you think, in the comments. I'll check them in the morning, before I decide how to spend
my day.
