Snowflake Day

1. Makers and Finders
A Cursed Baby Boom Challenge
Chapter 9
Did I mention that Matt was good? Matt was gooooood. And I wasn't so bad, if I do say so,
myself.
We started the day in a very good mood, well, aside from being stinky and needing to pee.

2. While I slept in a little (thanks to my slow energy gain from sleeping as a werewolf), Matt
conjured up the day's rations. I had to admit, having a warlock around was pretty handy!
“You know, Fiona,” Matt said to me, “we've been working so hard. It's a holiday! Why
don't we take half the day and check out the festival. Who knows? They may have something
we can only get there, after all. Perhaps even something useful. And it will be fun.”
“Half a holiday is better than none at all,” I said, and we agreed to go check it out. But with
our future looming before us, we knew we couldn't stay there all day.

3. I discovered that with enough tickets, we could actually buy our own ice skating rink! That
would be fun for the children, and something we could earn, rather than purchase from the
catalogue, meaning we could get it without worrying about weekly and/or birthday restrictions. I
decided to start earning some tickets. It would probably take years to get that many tickets, with
only a half-holiday, but still, a free ice skating rink! Wow!
Maybe I should have changed to human form before getting our photo taken?

4. Was this festival designed by those stupid French people we saw before? Why is water
balloon fight even an option, here? I wisely chose snowballs, thankyouverymuch.
Ice skating was fun! But Wu Zetian Badass insisted I was doing it wrong. “Girl, I'm a
Rebel. I dig through dumpsters to furnish my home. I don't need ice skates.”

5. Matt tried to grab a prize, while I went off for a game of whack-a-gnome. After that, we
knew we had to get back to work. Still, we had ten tickets, between us. By the time we were
ready to place a skating rink, we might just be able to manage to afford it. At any rate, it was a
fun morning, and we were ready to face the grind, once again.
On Matt's last try, though, he managed to grab a money bag! A BIG money bag! Over
$3800! WOOOOT!

6. Then it was back to the fire station. Matt worked on maintaining and upgrading the alarm
and the fire engine (which was once more at zero percent!), while I tried to invent more things.
I figured out how to make a toy cow! My children will not suffer from boredom, I can
promise that.

7. We made it home just in time for curfew. Matt wanted to have some fun, but he was also at
the point of passing out, so we just hit the sack, instead. It was a good day.
Well, readers, am I crazy to wish for it to keep snowing for at least another two weeks, just
so that we can furnish a house? I need to dig through the dumpsters until I can actually find at
least two beds! This winter won't last forever, and we will lift that curse before I'll even consider
risky woohoo. Birth control, for the win!
