Makers and Finders Chapter 1
1. Makers and Finders
A Cursed Baby Boom Challenge
Chapter 1
Hello, Moonlight Falls! Please welcome your newest citizens, Matt Maker and Fiona
Finder. Together, we are the Makers and Finders!
I've decided to start this new blog to record our time here, and share our lives with you.
After all, hiding didn't work, so why not succeed, fabulously, and show our parents that we don't
need them and their poison.
So, introductions. I'm Fiona Finder, and I am a Savvy Sculptor, Artistic, Eccentric, Childish,
and a Computer Whiz. My lifetime wish is to become a Descendant of DaVinci. My own family
was rubbish, so why not earn an adoption into that famous family, instead? What? He had no
biological children? Are you sure about that? Well, it doesn't matter, anyway. It's adoption!
Anyway, my partner, there, is Matt Maker. He is Athletic, Brave, Handy, Charismatic, and a
Bookworm. His lifetime wish is to save the lives of 30 sims, working as a firefighter, and prove
that he's a real hero, rather than the loser his mother tried to turn him into with her … You know
what? Let's not talk about our families of origin any more, OK?
Well, I suppose I have to talk about it a little. So, in a nutshell, we left home as soon as we
grew up, and our mothers CURSED us. Oh, yeah, that unseasonal nip in the air? That's from
our mothers. Moonlight Falls is cursed to have nothing but winter, until Matt and I lift five sub-
curses. Basically, between the two of us, we have to max Logic, Handiness, Charisma,
Invention, and Glassblowing. Once we have managed that, the seasons in Moonlight Falls will
go back to normal. There are some personal restrictions, as well, but they don't affect the city, as
a whole, so I won't bore you with them now. If you're really interested in the details, say so in
the comments, and I'll write up an explanation and stick in the sidebar. Frankly, I'd rather just go
on with it, rather than waste time with details.
2. Well, we started out complaining about wasting a whole day trying to elude our parents,
when we forgot that with magic, you don't need conventional means of following someone. Just
a simple tracking spell, and it doesn't matter how much you backtrack and mess about. A whole
day wasted. Anyway, we are here, now, and we're stuck in, so that's that. We refuse to let our
mothers get us down. Blew off a bit of steam for about five minutes, and then we just decided to
get on with it.
I'm Eccentric (as you can probably tell from my wardrobe. Matt, bless him, has never given
me crap about my personal style!), and so I claimed Invention. Matt, of course, will need
3. Handiness for his dream career, so he's claiming that one. I have a plan for the two of us to work
together on Charisma, and that just leaves Logic and Glassblowing. Matt is a “Maker,” so he can
do the Glassblowing. I'll take care of the Logic. Finding new stars and chess strategies! Yeah!
So, off we went to the library to get on with it.
Matt wasted no time joining the book club (with our limitations, a weekly book for a one
time fee? Heck yes!), and then signed up as a junior firefighter. He starts work tomorrow, and
today, he'll read Handiness.
4. I was, of course, going to study Invention, but I realized that I needed to at least get started
on Social Networking, just so I could start this blog (Click the PayBuddy button to support us,
please! Top right of the screen!). But I only needed one level of that, from a book. And as for
Invention, I'll probably spend a lot of time digging through trash just to get the stuff I need, but,
hey! I'm a Finder! It's what I do. I understand there's an invention bench at the firefighter
station, so I'll do my stuff there, while Matt does his.
5. This happened. What a waste. We can't go to the future until that curse is well lifted. That's
going to take a long time. Waaaaiiiit. University, huh? Now that could be useful. We do still
need to figure out the first challenge of finding a way to keep warm all night long. I have a
couple of ideas on that score, but I won't try to put them into action until evening. It's too soon
right now, anyway.
6. Since it hadn't started snowing, yet, and we'd need food in our inventories (can't always eat
at the diner, right?), I did some harvesting of the plants around the library, while Matt continued
to study Handiness.
7. Then, Matt's mother (or someone just like her) reached out with her wand of witchiness and
really put me in a jam. I had to call for Matt to get me out of it. I'm starting to really dislike
Witches, but Matt assures me that the vast majority of them are really nice. Just like the majority
of werewolves are nice, and humans and genies, and all that. It's just that the few meanies out
there really spoil it for everyone else, and that's how awful stereotypes are formed. He's such a
great guy, isn't he?
8. With a wave of his wand, he transported us back to our home lot. I didn't even feel like
going back to the library, at that point. Seeing that University basket gave me an idea, though.
We couldn't make phone calls from our home lot, but we made one stop at the local bookstore,
and from there we could book a brief vacation in France. Although we would not be able to use
the base camp for more than the bulletin board, the curfew did not apply, and we could shelter
for the night, anywhere we pleased. And the general store there would sell us some useful items,
like tents, rations, and shower-in-a-cans. Showers-in-a-can? Anyway, that stuff.
Well, I guess that's about it for this introductory post. I'll post another update soon, from
Champs Les Sims!
