1. The Ekiti State Government passed the Ekiti State Change of Official Logo Law to replace the former official logo with a new set of logos that better reflect the state's history, culture, and geography. 2. The new logos will be used on all government documents, publications, seals, and offices. 3. Anyone using the new logos without authorization can face up to 5 years in prison or a 500,000 naira fine.

3. A LAW TO MAKE PROVISION FOR THE CHANGE OF OFFICIAL LOGO OF EKITI
STATE GOVERNMENT AND OTHER MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH
NO. 2 OF 2011
EKITI STATE OF NIGERIA
WHEREAS, Ekiti State Government created a logo which was hitherto in use and
affecting the official status and documents of Ekiti State.
AND WHEREAS, Ekiti State Government, convinced of a need for a new identity
reflective of her historical, socio-cultural and geographical peculiarities, has
decided to fashion for herself a new set of logos.
ENACTED by the House of Assembly Ekiti State
As follows:
Change and substitution of the former official logo
1. The new set of official logos of the State Government set out in the second
schedule to this law shall be substituted for the former official logo of the
State Government set out in the first schedule to this law.

4. New Official Logos
2. The new set of official logos in the second schedule to this law shall from
the commencement of this law constitute the official logos of the State
Government.
Government Business
3. All State Government establishments, institutions, agencies and ministries
shall from the commencement of this law transact business with the new
official logos in the second schedule to this law.
Status and offices depicting the new official logo
4. The new official logos shall depict the following status and offices.
1. Ekiti State, Nigeria
2. Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria
3. Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria
4. Seal of the Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria.

5. Official Documents, Insignia, Signatures and Seals
5. The official documents, insignia, signatures and seals of the State
Government shall carry the new official logos as appropriate.
Official Publication and Gazette
6. The Commissioner for information shall ensure official publication and
gazette of the new logos.
Offences and Penalty
7. (1) No person, except officials of the State Government shall use or append or
permit to be used or appended to any document purporting to be official
document of the State, any of the official logos in the second schedule to
this law or imitation thereof without a formal written authorization from
the governor.
(2) Any person who breaches Section 7(1) of this Law commits an offence and
shall be liable upon conviction to imprisonment for five years or a fine of
five hundred thousand naira or both.

6. Power of Delegation
8. The Governor may from time to time delegate the authorization referred to
in section 7(1) of this law as he deems fit.
Definitions
9. In this law, unless the context provides otherwise:
‘Document’ include books, maps, plans, drawings, photographs, also includes and
any matter expressed or described upon any substance by means of letters,
figures or marks or by more than one of these means, intended to be used or
which may be used for the purpose of recording that matter.
‘Governor’ means the Governor of Ekiti State.
‘State’ means Ekiti State of Nigeria.
Citation
10. This law shall be cited as Ekiti State Government Official Logo
Law, 2011.

7. This printed impression has been carefully compared by me with the
Bill, which has been passed by the Ekiti State House of Assembly and
found by me to be a true copy of the said Bill.
