The team proposes training Nigerian youths in skills acquisition to address high unemployment. Unemployment affects over 80% of Nigerian youth and over 300,000 graduates are unemployed yearly. Their solution is to create free skills training programs for ages 18-30 in various skills like sewing, crafts, and agriculture to encourage entrepreneurship and reduce reliance on scarce white collar jobs. The goal is for youth to become self-employed or employ others, increasing productivity and economic development.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIAIJM Journal
A number of policy intermediations in Nigeria that were targeted at inspiring and stimulating entrepreneurship development through small and medium scale enterprises have botched. In its place of creating in-country entrepreneurial capacity, entrepreneurs have been converted and become distribution agents of imported goods. This paper argues the development of entrepreneurship and stressed that it has been instrumental in economic growth, balanced regional development and job creation in most vibrant economies, where technology is changing at a faster rate and the product lifetime cycle is dwindling. This paper also looks at Nigeria’s growing unemployment situation and how it increasingly deteriorates the potentials of the country. It emphasizes the prominence and significance of entrepreneurship as realistic machinery for sustainable economic growth and employment generation in Nigeria seeing the experiences of developed nations like Australia, the United States and vibrant economies like China and India.

Socio-Political Implications of Youth Unemployment on Nigeria’s Economic Deve...iosrjce
Youth unemployment may be regarded as one of the major problems confronting the Nigerian state
presently. Unemployed youths feel alienated from the society and have a total distrust of the political system. A
person’s job beyond providing for daily subsistence also determines the individual’s social status, affecting
relationship with peers, people in the person’s neighborhood as well as extended family members. The paper a
desk research, relied entirely on secondary data, sourced from scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles,
relevant published books, materials downloaded from the internet, as well as government and institutional
publications. In this paper, we argue that high level of youth unemployment in both urban and rural areas in
Nigeria has generated a situation of acute social and political unrest. The frustrated youths have become
aggressive in making themselves available to be used by politicians who are not sure of winning the people’s
mandate during general election. These politicians pay them to engage in anti-democratic process activities,
including pre- election, election-day and post election violence. Some youths engage in various criminal
activities that frustrate economic development of the state. We recommend that government should put in place
social welfare programmes that attend to the needs of unemployed youths, provide the enabling environment for
private investors to establish industries that will employ the youths as well as introduce the fiscal policies that
will make banks to provide soft loans to the youths who have entrepreneurial skills.

The study investigated the effects of political leadership on reduction of poverty and inequality in Enugu State, Nigeria between 2007 and 2019. Two specific objectives and corresponding hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study utilized social Contract theory as the framework of analysis. The study utilized primary and secondary source of data. The primary data was obtained through interview and observation methods while secondary data was obtained through text books, News paper, Journals, government official documents and internet materials. Nine Local Government Areas were used for the study and they were chosen through purposive judgmental sampling techniques. The data for the study was presented using simple table, percentage, mean and Chart. Hypotheses were tested using Chi square contingency test. The findings for the study revealed as follows that the activities of Enugu State government are the major cause of poverty in the state, that the project strategies employed by Enugu state government have contributed significantly in mitigating poverty and inequalities in the state, that the measures adopted by the political leadership of the state have contributed very little in reducing poverty and inequalities in Enugu state, that there are significant measures adopted by the political leadership of Enugu state in poverty and inequality reduction. Based on the background, hypotheses and findings, it was recommended thus Enugu state government should provide the basic needs and good policies that will guarantee good living condition, that there should be adequate funding, There is need for proper re orientation in way of managing the resources of the state, There should be no interference from the government in the choice of project for the communities, anti corruption agencies must not only be made to function independently of government apparatus but must have the capacity to institute an executive sanctions, that there is need to appraise and understand the social , political, economic, and cultural contexts of communities before the institution of intervention projects in the communities. YOUNG PEOPLE AND CHALLENGES OF AGRICULTURE: AN OVERVIEW OF UNDERGRADUATE STUD...IAEME Publication
Young people who have the strength required to take up agriculture shy-away
from the work, leaving it to an ageing and dying population of old farmers, the
continuation of this will force us to wonder what the fate of agriculture would be in
Nigeria. Agricultural development specialists and policymakers around the world are
concerned with the fact that young people are not interested in agriculture, as
agriculture is very crucial to the current economic status of Nigeria. A sample of 384
respondents from the population was drawn using multistage sampling method and 40
in-depth interviews. Five research questions were raised in the study and two
hypotheses were generated and tested (at 0.05 level of significance) using the chisquare inferential statistical method. Data were collected using a well-structured
questionnaire; the research design was a descriptive survey. While the theories used
for this research are the social exchange and rational choice theory. The major
finding of the research showed there is no significant relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics of young people and their level of involvement in farm
practice, while there was a significant relationship between the benefits attached to
farm practice and the level of students’ involvement.
Poverty and it's Alleviation: Lessons for Nigeriaijtsrd
The study focused on the persistent poverty status in Nigeria in spite of all the actions and activities directly and indirectly put in place to reduce it. Nigerian poverty statistics and government actions in tackling poverty were examined. Few countries that have succeeded in reducing poverty position were briefly examined. Specifically, we highlighted how Malaysia, China and South Korea aspired and attained high level poverty alleviation. The lessons of their success stories were the basis for recommendations for Nigeria as a panacea for poverty reduction which has persevere in spite of every efforts over the years. Among the recommendations made include: designing of poverty line for the entire geopolitical zone, stating target of poverty reduction within a time frame, and sincerely implementing and monitoring of strategies, programmes and policies. 1. Team Name: THE WORLD AND YOU
Country: NIGERIA
Team Leader: KEDEI INAH
Team Member: MOMODU AIGIBOKHAN
2. The United States Census Bureau, USCB of 2012 estimated 7.063
billion people in the World, 998527534 people in Africa and
152217341 people in Nigeria- the most populous country in
Africa.
Unemployment is a lowly state where you are incapable of
expressing your skills and talents for productivity. It is a global
issue and according to International Labour Organisaton, ILO-
2012, more than 197 million people in the World are
unemployed making65 of the World’s population.
Unemployment has affected 805 of the Nigerian youths
between 18 to 35 years and according to Vanguard Newspapers
Nigeria , more than 300000 graduate from the
University, polythenics but only less than half the number are
employed.
So many of the youths are leaving to Nigeria to search for
greener pastures and going to the UK, Europe-Italy, USA, etc
3. CAUSES OF YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA
Mismanagement of funds.
Over-population.
Lack of Industries.
Gender differences.
Culture and Ethnicity.
Poverty.
Poor Electricity Supply.
Influx of foreign goods.
Emphasis on certificates or paper qualification.
Multiple taxes.
Illiteracy.
Harsh political environment.
Corruption
Infrastructural decay.
Emphasis on level of experience.
Bad policies.
Poverty.
Limited resources.
5. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
Bad leaders for bad policies and corruption etc
The Government for inappropriate laws and not
amending the constitution, multiple taxes etc.
The Society on the emphasis on paper
qualification, level of experience, bribing, brigandage
etc.
The Institution on inadequate teaching
experience, poor curricula, etc
Parents on choosing academic courses on their
children, gender inequalities etc.
6. given the annual growth rate of 3.2
percent(National Population Commission and ICF
Macro,2009).With this population Nigeria is the
most populous nation in Africa. It is argued that
the high. Population growth rate has resulted in
the rapid growth of the labour force, which is far
outstripping the supply of jobs. The accelerated
growth of population on Nigeria's unemployment
problem is multifaceted. It affects the supply side
through a high and increase in the labour force
relative to the absorptive capacity of the economy.
7. The federal government should hasten the power
sector reforms and re-stabilise the power sector to
end the looming energy crisis in Nigeria. This is to
encourage entrepreneurial activities in the
country, in terms of enterprise activities.
Religious,Ethnic and political violence and crisis
should be controlled by all means necessary as it
displaces people and cause serious harm on their
means of livelihood, many companies have left
Nigeria because of violence in certain areas of the
country. Therefore,by all means necessary, any act of
violence should be checkmated
8. The Federal Government should improve and encourage the agricultural sector.
There should be a process of or a program geared towards training youths in Nigeria in
the
act of entrepreneurship.
Youths should be empowered in skills and craft like beading, sewing, barbing etc.
Soft loans should be granted to small scale farmers and business.
Emphasis on paper qualification should be abolished but on your passion and
willingness to work.
Discrimination on gender difference, ethnicity should be stopped, employment should
be based on qualification not on where he/she is from or whether it is a he or a she.
The government should put a stop to making graduates from the Universities placed at a
higher level in the office than those graduates from colleges and polythenics.
To encourage economic growth, we need steady supply of electricity to carry out
production faster and smoothly.
The Nigerian government should remove the immunity policy that prevents corrupt
leaders from persecution.
Elections in Nigeria should not be a “do or die” affair, it should be based on the peoples’
choice.
9. OUR SOLUTION
We want to create a skills acquisition agenda, where every
youth 18- 30 years is given a free tutorial on a his/her
desired passion on a particular skill. We believe that we
should non longer rely on white collar jobs for growth but
using our hands, passion, knowledge and energy to bring
out something beautiful to satisfy a need which in turn
can bring us income.
10. PLANNED RESULT AND OUTCOME
Young youth between the ages
of 20-30 years would be self
employed and will also employ
others, with this there would be
human productivity and nation
development
