Lampang city in Thailand has focused on developing its ceramic industry by leveraging its upstream and downstream water resources. The Lampang deputy governor explained that the strategy is aimed at creating new jobs through developing existing industries like ceramics and handicrafts. This will help the city compete internationally, especially with the opening of the ASEAN community. Efforts include promoting local ceramic designs, supporting ceramic production centers and contests, and developing ceramic villages to provide jobs to local residents. The ultimate goal is for Lampang to become known as the city of ceramics and create jobs and prosperity for its people.
