2. The Mewar festival is an annual event which takes place in April every year to welcome the
spring. The festivities include Rajashtani folk dances, processions, devotional music and
firework displays. Rajashtani women dressed up in their colorful outfits carry the images of
their goddess through the streets of Udaipur and finally reach Lake Pichola where procession
of boats offers a fitting finale to this magnificent festival.
3. Deepawali is one of the main festivals of Hindus in India and is celebrated with great
enthusiasm in Udaipur by the local inhabitants. The entire city comes alive with the festival of
lights as every home and building in the town is lit up in the evening with lights and diyas (mud
lamps).
4. Hariyali Amavasya is celebrated as a fair at Udaipur’s favourite Fatehsagar Lake and Sahelion
Ki Bari. This fair is celebrated for two consecutive days in which one day is dedicated to
women and males are not allowed participate on that day which makes it a unique fair in
entire India.
5. The Shiplgram crafts mela is held every year in Udaipur to promote Rajasthani handicrafts
which are exported all over the world. Artisans from various cities of Rajasthan assemble at
this fair to showcase their craftsmanship.
