ENGLISH AROUND THE WORLD
First we
painted a
gigantic
map of the
world on
the wall.
We are here!!!
Where are these icons
 from? Do you know?
 England? Canada?
Australia? The USA?
   South Africa?
This helps us write the sentences about the
different countries.
We have a map of the world in our
folders where we colour in every
country we work with.
We have our “English Around the
World” folders.
We started with Canada... We looked for Canada on the world
map. We looked for information about Canada at home, in the
library and Internet. We wrote down the information in our folders.
We also looked for pictures and cut outs to place on the big
bulletin board in front of the world map at school.
This is the bulletin board we use. It is like a big
scrapbook about the country. We write in
sentences like ... Canada is in North America. The capital
of Canada is Ottawa. Canada is a very big country. And ...
The Canadian
coat of Arms
has got 2 lions
and a horse.
There are many
                       mountains, lakes and
                       forests in Canada.




The most popular
sports in Canada are
hockey, ice skating
and lacross.
French, Polish, Irish, Italians, Peruvians




Scotish, Yugoslavians,Chinese, Indian, Hindues
The CN TOWER in Toronto, Canada.
We made pancakes.
A traditional Canadian breakfast.
We learned how to play baseball.

This is my grade 6 school picture.
After Canada we started to work with
England. We found out information about
England and put it up on our bulletin board.
We coloured in England
on the world map.




                          We wrote sentences
                          like... Big Ben is a very
                          important clock in London.




  Mary Poppins lived in
        London.
We included all the
information in our
     folders.
We also included
pictures and drawings of
interesting people, sites,
   animals, food, etc.
PRESCHOOL is also working on the
project... The bus is red.
The flag of
Canada is red
 and white.
The Australian flag is red white and blue.
   It has got 6 stars.
Australia




Autralia has got the longest coral reef in the
world.
The Sydney Opera House
Crocodile Dundee is from Australia. He
  likes crocodiles. Nicole Kidman is
 beautiful. She is from Australia, too.
There are
many
exotic
animals in
Australia;
the
kangaroo,
the emu,
the koala,
the
wombat.
The aborigines
                      lived many,
                   many, many years
                    ago in Australia.




The “All BLACKS”
the most popular
  rugby team in
    Australia.
What do we do with all this information
          we are learning?




 We are sure you have a lot of ideas…
We are doing practically the same things
    we do with the materials in the
              textbooks.
We are playing competitions,
  flash card games, -celery game
          T or F sentences,
             dictations,
interviews, (Crocodile Dundee, Jim
               Carrey)
      categorization activities,
     graphs, (population, area,
             cultures…)
    webs, (about each country)

 We will finish this year with South Africa.
