COMBINED GAS–VAPOR POWER
CYCLES
■ In a combined cycle power plant, the exhaust
of one power cycle (mostly gas cycle) is utilized
as a source of heat for running another cycle
(mostly steam).
■ The cycle which provides exhaust heat is called
topping cycle, while the cycle which utilizes this
heat is called bottoming cycle.
■ High thermal efficiencies are achieved by
utilizing CCPPs (Combined Cycle Power Plants).
