I am Thelma van der Werff, the creator of the Colour Comfort mehtod and I am grateful for the opportunity to explain this method and how you can use the language of colour on a daily basis.

  • #4 The colour comfort method translates the language of colour giving you insight into yourself and how to make changes and improvement . Before I start to explain how we do this, let us take a step back in time.
  • #5 Colour has been used by ancient civilizations through the ages to enhance health, wellness, relationships and prosperity. Ancient Egyptians used colour to enhance well-being.
  • #6 And according to Ayurveda light and colours have an effect on the total energetic system of the body.
  • #7 and chinese medicine associate each organ with a colour. So colour has been used for therapeutic reasons for centuries.
  • #8 The colour comfort method uses the psychology of colour, in other words the emotions and feelings behind each colour. The difference between the psychology of colour and The symbology of colour is that the symbology of colour can differ from country to country and even from street to street. For instance Yellow is the symbol of Australian rugby as orange is for Dutch soccer.

  • #10 For instance red is perceived as the colour of love, passion and energy
  • #11 And anger! In every language there are sayings that represent emotions and are being expressed by a colour. Like seeing red with anger.

  • #21 And when you get ready for your party, the clothing you first intended to wear just does not feel right because you are probably feeling differently.
  • #22 And The colours in clothing come closest to you. For example, It is easy to look at a snake in a cage from a distance or look at a colour on a wall in your house,
  • #23 but actually wearing that snake, or in our case, to wear a colour is allowing that colour to really come very close to you. You can have your entire house painted yellow, but never wear that colour. The colour in your home will reflect what you need to feel comfortable and the colours in your clothing will reflect how you actually feel or want to feel.
  • #24 According to the colour comfort method there are 9 steps within each colour.
  • #25 If you have never worn a colour it reveals information about your upbringing or conditioning
  • #26 When you have started to wear a colour or introduce a colour into your life this is an indication of an emotional change due to an event.
  • #27 If you have stopped wearing a colour this also indicates an emotional change due to an event.
  • #28 If you wear a particular colour regularly, this indicates your personality characteristics
  • #29 If you overdose on a particular colour the negative aspects of this colour can become apparent
  • #30 We need a balance of colour because colour is like nutrients to our body, soul, spirit and emotions.
  • #31 Although tomatoes are very healthy, if we would overdose on tomatoes and only eat tomatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we would be lacking the nutrients of other fruit and vegetables.
  • #32 We also look at the complimentary colour or so called opposite colour because this can identify if there is an imbalance between opposite colours.
  • #33 We look if there is a specific preference to pastel or vibrant colours. When using a pastel shade of a colour this indicates that you use this colour to receive the properties of the colour for yourself while, when using a strong shade of a colour you want to emit the characteristics of this colour.
