This presentation is very much focused on our model, and while only half way through the current year's program, we are already seeing great things as:
1) the course actively engages student concerns, and supports them as they develop a business case for change
2) The course is not an elective, but is part of the core curriculum (i.e. required for graduation), and integrates with other core topics (finance, operations, marketing, etc)

Community-based adaptation (CBA) empowers local communities to plan for and cope with climate change impacts based on their priorities, knowledge, and needs. In Bangladesh, CBA projects focus on drought, flooding, water scarcity, and natural resource management. The CBA program builds community adaptive capacity and reduces climate risks by working with local people and influencing policy. However, CBA faces challenges in attracting sufficient long-term funding and integrating local projects into national adaptation efforts.
History of photography
Early cameras used camera obscuras to project images onto walls in darkened rooms, but the images were always upside down. The first semi-permanent image was produced using a camera obscura and bitumen, taking 8 hours to expose. Later, experiments used silver chloride coated paper to make negatives of silhouettes, and in 1835 Fox Talbot created the first negative using a "mousetrap" camera at his estate. Daguerre then introduced the daguerreotype process using silver-iodide coated copper plates developed with mercury vapor to create a single direct positive image in under 30 minutes.

It is increasingly being recognised internationally that integrated catchment management (ICM) is a useful organising framework for tackling the ongoing challenge of balancing sustainable use and development of our natural resource, against achieving environmental goals. The basic principles of ICM (Williams, 2012) are to:
• Take a holistic and integrated approach to the management of land, biodiversity, water and community resources at the water catchment scale;
• Involve communities in planning and managing their landscapes; and
• Find a balance between resource use and resource conservation
ICM is now well established in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. In Europe the ICM approach has been proposed as being required to achieve effective water and catchment management, and is the approach being promoted by DEFRA for the UK, where it is called the “Catchment Based Approach” (CaBA). The principles and methodologies behind ICM sit well within the context of the Water Framework Directive with its aims and objectives for good water quality, sustainable development and public participation in water resource management. 2012 ISCN Symposium - ISCN Case Study Portland State University

The program aims to [1] create a pool of leaders to address urban mobility comprehensively, [2] build capacity at local training institutes, and [3] create reference materials. It involves [2] self-study, [2] a one-week training, [3] a local project with mentoring, and [4] exposure visits. Over 430 participants from over 50 countries have completed the program so far. The World Bank leads program design and quality assurance while partners deliver the trainings and cover costs through fees.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible.
