me to utilize my technical skills and design experience to provide unique solutions.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Platforms: Unix (AIX/Tru64), Linux (Red Hat), Windows (all flavors)
Databases: Oracle 8i/9i/10g, MS Access, MySQL
Languages: C, C++, Perl (DBI/regex/data cleansing/soap,XML), Pro*C/C++, Java, PL-SQL, SQL, shell scripting (Korn
shell/Bash shell), web services (SOAP), 8086 Assembly
Tools: PLSQL Developer, vi, FTP, PVCS, CVS, RPM, Subversion, Ultraedit, ActiveVOS, MS-Office, Visio
Technologies: CORBA, Custom Orchestrate (Datastage) operators, SOAP, JMS, XML, BPEL, COM
EXPERIENCE
Acxiom Corporation, Little Rock, AR. March 1999 – April 2015
Senior Solution Developer – Dun and Bradstreet account April 2008 – April 2015
• Owned development leadership and architectural tasks for a $115MM account with Dun and Bradstreet.
• Designed and developed large parts of the Optimizer Delivery Rewrite. This two year project was a complete overhaul of the
customer's solution using the ActiveVOS BPM system. The new solution increased throughput of the customer's data by an
average of 400% and caused the client to abandon plans of taking the solution in house. They signed a 3 year contract
extension based on the new production data.
• Developed and helped design a data archiving solution saving team $150,000 /yr in data storage costs. This system created a
nightly listing of all team owned files on the remote system, and then, based on retention rules, moved, compressed, and
logged any old files to a cheap SAN disk system. All files and operations were logged into a database system and a utility was
created to restore the files if needed for production re-runs.
• Developed and maintained a CORBA and C++ based data store that powered the customer's prospecting engine. This data store
was broken into 3 types of data and distributed across over 45 data nodes. One of the types of data allowed the customer to
request data by doing set arithmetic to narrow results based on multiple field values. The data stores were regenerated
monthly, with a live daily update applied without the need to pause the data retrieval.
• Designed and developed parts of the EU Optimizer solution. This solution received xml based transactions across a JMS
message queue. It then batched the records up and fed them to a Perl based system which applied customer required business
logic and applied the transactions to a vertical Oracle database configuration. The data in the database was then used to feed
the EU optimizer append product.
• Designed and developed a metrics comparison package that took SLA data for the Delivery Rewrite system and the legacy
optimizer system and created a report of baseline comparisons for the customer.
• Subject matter expert for several areas of the Dun and Bradstreet database marketing solution with 50 associates.
• Developed a Perl reporting module used in most team code which creates Microsoft Excel spreadsheets based on an xml
definition file and data found in Oracle or mySql databases.
• Designed and developed software to scrape all log information created during grid processing to calculate SLA data and a
monthly report. This information was critical in proving year end SLA metrics and saved the team thousands in penalties with
the customer.
Solution Developer – Acxiom Products Division December 2006 – April 2008
• Designed, created and maintained software products used internally at Acxiom by client teams to power their solutions.
• Productionalized and maintained a Perl wrapper for the SAS analytics package that allowed SAS to be run on the Acxiom Grid
system. This allowed Acxiom teams to place their analytics logic on the grid and bypass steps which would have to move
gigabytes of data on and off of the grid system for each processing run.
Solution Developer – Acxiom Knowledge Base team March 2000 – December 2006
• Designed and created software used to manage Acxiom's consumer and business Oracle knowledge bases using C++, Pro*C/C++
and PL-SQL.
• Developed a large part of a re-architecture moving the Knowledge Base to a system utilizing Acxiom's Abilitec technology.
• Designed and created a scoring language that allowed the data developers to test their data quality rules and theories without
needing a solution developer to implement a prototype.
• Designed and implemented an interface to allow access to different back end data sources (Oracle, mySQL, flat files, etc)
without having to re-code the front end software.
• Developed a front end to the CVS code source management system that helped interface common team development functions
with CVS and Redhat package manager functionality.
Solution Developer – Acxiom Research and Development team March 1999 – March 2000
• Researched new technologies and created proof of concept software to pass to other teams to be developed into marketable
offerings.
• Introduced Acxiom to the XML specification and drove its adoption as the corporate standard through a class at the Acxiom
Technical Research Symposium.
• Named with 13 others on patent #6523041 as inventor of Acxiom's “Abilitec” linking technology which allows it to identify
individuals and corporations on customer data and tie them to Acxiom's Knowledge Base records. This technology is still the
backbone of many of Acxiom's product offerings.
• Created a prototype distributed data grid which was the forerunner of Acxiom's “hive” technology that is still in use.
• Created a prototype piece of software used to “crawl” through Acxiom's consumer knowledge base, linking together individual
records based on common associations with a known individual. It was calculated that this would reduce the database size by
up to 20% and improve value and introduce cost savings to Acxiom's customers.
Controlled Automation Inc. Bauxite, AR. April 1991 – March 1999
Solution Developer / Software Engineer
• Developed steel fabricating machine control software on 286 and 386 intel processors using Microsoft C version 4 and 8086
assembly language. This software utilized the timer interrupt to perform multi-processing on the 286/386 chipsets. The PC
interfaced with OPTO-22 relay sets, optical encoders and motor drives through 3 custom PC boards created in-house.
• Created a GUI to allow steel parts to be programmed and rendered on the screen for verification.
• Responsible for trouble-shooting machinery via phone and customer service trips.
• Created assembly language based graphics package for graphical programming of steel fabricating parts. This was because
Microsoft C version 4 did not contain graphics functions.
• Maintained and augmented an in-house programming language designed specifically for controlling the machinery.
• Ported all structural parts programming software from MS-DOS to Windows.
EDUCATION
University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Little Rock, AR)
1985-1991
B.S, Computer Science
Numerous in house courses and self led learning at Acxiom to learn technologies needed for current projects. These included, but
were not limited to: Java, JMS, Orchestrate, BPEL, Perl, and Pro*C/C++.
