Why would somebody be willing to put themselves in a harmful situation by taking dangerous illegal substances? There are many reasons people turn
to drugs; some people choose to use drugs because of family issues, others want to fit in, and some people simply just want to experiment it.
Regardless of the reasons, taking drugs can lead to drug addiction.
The first cause of drug addiction is family issues. Some of the people I talked to who have drug addiction had been through difficult situations at

Peer pressure has a very strong effect on young people who do not want to appear uncool to their friends. Some young people will do whatever
their friends do, just to fit in and follow the crowd. They do not want to be the only one not doing something, even if it is something dangerous, like
taking drugs. Another example of peer pressure would be if a teenager is at a party and there is marijuana and alcohol around, they might feel they

My reflection paper is on the subject of substance abuse. As the structure of society changes, the acceptability of one drug or another changes. I
have dealt with my own experiences of substance abuse personally and through family and friends throughout my community. I believe there are
many underlying problems Native people face today that lead to substance abuse. So, drug use and alcoholism is not the problem in my town,
those are more like side effects of something deeper. I would have to agree most with the symbolic interactionist perspective as far as the labeling
theory goes. There are also many images in the media that depict the use of drugs and alcohol to make it seem like even though it is bad, it is
sometimes okay. These images sparked my own curiosity to experience a fun high or a night out with friends and hopefully getting lucky. I had so
many questions about drug use and alcohol. My older siblings and cousins were involved in those circles so it was only natural that me and my
cousins and peers who I grew up with got into smoking marijuana and buying drinks on the weekends. I did not know at the time about the dangers
of underage drinking. I also had very little knowledge of the condition of my mental health at my young age. Eventually I found out that I had an
addictive personality and I got myself into a downward spiral of substance abuse. My drug of choice is marijuana. Some people say marijuana is not a

Say No To Drugs In The United States
I will say no to drugs for many reasons. An estimated twenty million Americans aged twelve or older used illegal drug in the past thirty days
according to the National survey on drug use and health. About 570,000 people die annually in the U.S. due to drug use. In 2014 the drug overdose
total was 47,055. The reason I will say no to drugs because it's bad, makes you sick, can cause death and can cause cancer and a lot more. Drugs cause
things like hallucinations, sickness, depression, liver and kidney problems and cancer. Taking too much of any drug can kill you which is called
overdose. In 2016 there was more than 50,000 Americans that died from drug overdoses. On February 11 and 12, in Louisville Kentucky there were
52 overdoses in two days!

Persuasive Essay On Prohibition Of Drugs
Laws that prohibit the possession and use of street drugs are important as their aim is to protect the user, those around them, and society in general
from undue harm. There has been a great push during the last 10 years to legalize marijuana and decriminalize other drugs such as cocaine and heroin
on the basis that the recreational user, and even the hard–core addict, may not be causing significant harm to anyone, beyond their own personal health.
In this sense, drug use is viewed as a personal choice and drug laws trample on personal freedoms without sufficient reason. Additionally, minorities are
found to be arrested and convicted of drug crimes at disproportionate rates when compared to the demographics of those who use illegal drugs, which
some see these type of laws as a tool of legal oppression, instead of a valid punitive function. Still, there remains sufficient reasons to maintain laws
against the possession and use of controlled substances, such as marijuana, cocaine, and heroin; though there is a compelling argument for the
lessening of the amount punishment of the majority of users that are caught with small amounts of street drugs. This paper seeks to put forward valid
reasons for the continued prohibition of drugs, while also making a case for the softening of incarceration policies.
Some argue that the use of mind or mood–altering substances is a matter of personal expression. They assume the philosophical stance that what one
individual finds enlightening as a means of helping them to reach their best personal self, may be a hindrance to others (Mill, 2014). They view the
consumption of a substance as a personal freedom, in their pursuit to find fulfillment and contentment in life. The argument that drug use is a personal
choice has some merit, but loses traction when it is compared to the reasons societies were formed, how they function, and the benefits the individual
obtains from membership. A society is where individuals and groups come together to establish rules, accomplish common goals, and provide for the
public welfare, while also allowing space for the pursuit of personal interests (Stone, 2002). Healthy and productive communities allow the promotion
