Start By:
A. Remove the boom. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom - Remove".
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service
Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Position suitable cribbing under swing boom cylinder (1), as shown.
2. Remove bolt (4). Remove pin assembly (2), shim (5), and shims (3). Reposition swing
boom cylinder (1) to one side.

3. Remove bolts (6) and bracket (8). Remove rubber spacer (7) .
4. Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (9). Remove shim (10) .

5. Remove bolts (12). Use two persons or a suitable device for lowering in order to remove pin
assembly (11). The weight of pin assembly (11) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb).
6. Attach a suitable lifting device to support assembly (13). The weight of support assembly
(13) is approximately 299 kg (660 lb).
7. Remove bolts (14). Use two persons to remove lower pin assembly (15). The weight of pin
assembly (15) is approximately 26 kg (58 lb).

The location of the above graphic is the upper support.
8. Take note of the placement of thrust washer (16) for installation purposes. Thrust washer
(16) may be displaced during the removal of the support assembly.
The location of the above graphic is the lower support.
9. Take note of the placement of shims (17) for installation purposes. Shims (17) may be
displaced during the removal of the support assembly.

10. Carefully route hoses (18) through support assembly (13) during the removal of support
assembly (13). Use the suitable lifting device to remove support assembly (13) .
11. Remove lip seal (19) (not shown).
12. Use Tooling (B) to remove upper bearing (20) .
13. Repeat Steps 11 and 12 for the lower bearing.

14. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing (21) from support assembly (13). Repeat for the
remaining three bearings in support assembly (13) .

NOTICE

containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service
Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
1. Use Tooling (B) to install four bearings (21) in support assembly (13) .
2. Use Tooling (B) to install upper bearing (20) .
3. Use Tooling (C) to install lip seal (19) (not shown).

4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for the lower bearing.
5. Use a suitable lifting device to position support assembly (13). The weight of support
assembly (13) is approximately 299 kg (660 lb).
6. Carefully route hoses (18) through support assembly (13) while you position support
assembly (13) on the machine.
The location of the above graphic is the upper support.
Note: Apply Tooling (D) to both surfaces of thrust washer (16) before installation.
7. Install thrust washer (16) in the same position that was noted in the removal procedure.

The location of the above graphic is the lower support.
8. Install shims (17) in the same position that was noted in the removal procedure. Install the
required amount of shims (17) in order to achieve a maximum lateral clearance of 1.0 mm
(0.04 inch).
9. Apply Tooling (D) to the surface of the bore for upper pin assembly (15) before installation.
10. Use two persons to install upper pin assembly (15). The weight of upper pin assembly (15)
is approximately 26 kg (58 lb).
11. Install bolts (14) .

12. Apply Tooling (D) to the surface of the bore for lower pin assembly (11) before installation.
13. Use two persons or a suitable device for raising in order to install lower pin assembly (11).
The weight of lower pin assembly (11) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb).
14. Install bolts (12) .
15. Remove the suitable lifting device from support assembly (13) .
16. Install shim (10). Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (9).

17. Install rubber spacer (7). Install bracket (8) and bolts (6) .
18. Apply Tooling (D) to both bores for pin assembly (2) before installation. Install shim (5).
Position swing boom cylinder (1). Install shims (3) and pin assembly (2). Adjust shims (3)
to a maximum clearance of 1.0 mm (0.04 inch). Install bolt (3) .

19. Remove the suitable cribbing from swing boom cylinder (1) .
End By: Install the boom. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom - Install".

Window Wiper Motor - Remove and Install
SMCS - 7305
Removal Procedure
1. Remove bolts (1) and (2).

2. Remove bolts (3) and move monitor (4) to one side. Remove bolts (5 ) and remove panel
(6).
3. Remove nut (8) and remove wiper arm (7).

4. Remove cap (9). Remove nut (10) and two washers (11).
5. Remove bolts (12).

6. Disconnect harness assembly (15). Remove bolts (14). Remove wiper motor assembly (13).
Installation Procedure
1. Position wiper motor assembly (13). Install bolts (14). Connect harness assembly (15).
