WATER MANAGEMENT
Water management provides the background scenario
Gives us the context where we are going to work
Cases, problems, disciussion topics will rely on water issues
Water cycle, water system, interdependence, new business models, resource management… some of the topics to be addressed
We are going to work on water issues but: How?
…That is a different question
TRANSITION MANAGEMENT
Transition management perspective provides the approach for the whole course
Gives us the way how we are expected to face the problems set out in the course, around water
based on the idea of co-evolutionary socio-technical systems
Multiple levels can be recognized in these systems:
niches (experiments), regime (market/society), landscape (broader context)
Changes in niches can drive evolution in the whole system affecting regime and landscape in the long run
Technology is not enough for the system to change
Processes of change comprehend technological, social, organizational actions involving multiple actors.
Lead those tansitions, tackle sustainability problems with this approach requires new knowledge and skills
Then transition will have been sparked
GREEN SKILLS
Finally we get to the very heart of the course , the so called Green Skills
The goal of the course is to gain and put in place those skills to boost transition in systems (experiment-market-society-landscape)
We are talking about creative thinking, visioning, dealing with stakeholder, networking, presuasion, problem solving…
In summary
We will learn new skills to drive socio-technical changes in systems by putting them in place
in water management issues

That sounds nice, but
How are we supposed to learn and put in place those green skills?
