system at Oakfield Park Pavilion after bowling Wilmington
Parish Council bosses over with the guaranteed financial
andeco-friendlyenergybenefits.
The established Dartford-based
businessinstalledthestate-of-the-
art 52-panel solar photovoltaic
systemonthepavilion’sroof.
The high-tech panels,which
convert daylight into electricity, will
provide annual energy savings of
£858 and tax-free Feed-In Tariff
returns of £3,378 – over 25 years
this will provide an income and
saving of £143,691.
The 10kWp farm also boasts
strong green credentials, withCO2
savings of 5.3 tonnes per year.
M&M also fitted the pavilion
with a charge point at which Kent
Police’s Dartford and Gravesham
neighbourhood unit can charge the
electric patrol car donated to the
Force by the renewables firm in
June last year.The carbon neutral
car is the first zero emissions
vehicle to be deployed by Kent
Police.
Cllr Derek Hunnisett, Chairman
of Wilmington Parish Council, said
there werethree main reasons for
installing solar PV at the pavilion.
He said: “The system will help
the council to save money, which
will therefore provide savings to the
residents of Wilmington.Money
saved on electricity bills can beused
to pay for community activities or
help to keep our council precept
rates down.
“The solar PV system also goes
some way to safeguard against the
ongoing energy price concerns and
helps with the council’s green policy.
Lastly, a powerpoint at the pavilion
can now be used by police to charge
their electric-powered,carbon
neutral patrol car.As key partners of
ours this was a major benefit of the
cost-saving technology tous.
