Currency Exchange (CCE) set up kiosks at international airports around the country to
provide currency exchange for a small fee. CCE's owner has asked you to complete the
Excel workbook to simplify the calculation process.
Complete the following:
1. Open the Currency workbook located in the Excels? Case3 folder included with your
Data Ales, and then save the workbook as Currency Calculator in the location specked by
your instructor.
2. In the Documentation worksheet, enter your name and the date.
3. In the Currency Calculator worksheet, in the range A3:014, complete the Currency
Conversion Table. Search the web to find the name of each country's currency (column
B), its three-character currency code (column D), and what $1 (U.S.) equals in each
country, currency (column C). As an example, the first row in the table has been
completed for Australia. Be sure to update the $1 U.S. Equals cell for Australia to the
current exchange rate.
4. In cell H4, create a data validation to create a list of countries in column A that users
can select from to avoid data entry errors when entering the country name. (Hint: Use the
defined name CountryList to reference countries.) Select Australia from the list.
5. In cell H5, enter 1000 as the U.S. dollars received.

2. 6. In cell HO, enter a formula to calculate the conversion fee. If cell H5 is blank, cell H6
should also be blank. Otherwise, CCE charges a conversion fee of 3 percent (cell B17) of
the total U.S. dollars received with a minimum charge of $5 (cell B18).
7. In cell H7, subtract the conversion fee (entered in cell H6) from the dollars received (in
cell H5) to obtain the amount to be converted to the foreign currency.
8. In cell H9, use a VLOOKUP function to calculate the amount of foreign currency the
traveler will receive. Multiply the amount being converted (in cell H7) by the correct
exchange rate.
