Open Source Software for Digital Preservation Repositories : A SurveyIJCSES Journal
In the digital age, the amount of data produced is growing exponentially. Governments and institutions can no longer rely on old methods for storing data and passing on the knowledge to future generations. Digital data preservation is a mandatory issue that needs proper strategies and tools. With this awareness, efforts are being made to create and perfect software solutions capable of responding to the challenge of properly preserving digital information. This paper focuses on the state-of-the-art in open-source software solutions for the digital preservation and curation field used to assimilate and disseminate information to designated audiences. Eleven open source projects for digital preservation are surveyed in areas such as supported standards and protocols, strategies for preservation, methodologies for reporting, dynamic of development, targeted operating systems, multilingual support and open source license. Furthermore, five of these open
source projects, are further analysed, with focus on features deemed important for the area. Along open source solutions, the paper also briefly surveys the standards and protocols relevant for digital data preservation. The area of digital data preservation repositories has several open source solutions, which can form the base to overcome the challenges to reach mature and reliable digital data preservation.

23 things for Research Data - LIBER webinar 23 Feb 2017ARDC
Want practical tips and resources to improve your management of research data? On 23 February 2017 this free LIBER webinar focused on the 23 Things list: a set of free, online resources and tools that you can immediately use to change how you manage research data.
Developed in August 2015 by librarians engaged in the Research Data Alliance (RDA), the 23 Things program was created as a training resource for librarians, It has been translated into 11 languages and covers topics related to research data such as data management plans, data literacy, metadata, data citation, data licensing and privacy, data repositories, and communities of practice.
In March 2016, the concept was expanded into a 23-week, national training and community-building program led by the Australian National Data Service. The program was an immediate success. Over 1,200 people participated in the launch webinar and 50 local community groups were formed (in person or virtually), to learn a new ‘thing’ to improve their research data practice.
This webinar explored the content of both the 23 Things resource from RDA, and introduced the in-depth, 23-week training program as an opportunity for professional development and wider adoption and evaluation.
The webinar was organised by LIBER's Working Group on Scientific Information Infrastructures and featured two guests: -- Michael Witt, Associate Professor of Library Science & Head, Distributed Data Curation Center, Purdue University, USA -- Natasha Simons, Senior Research Data Management Specialist, Australian National Data Service, Australia

Researcher Reliance on Digital Libraries: A Descriptive AnalysisIJAEMSJORNAL
The digital library is an information technology that is structured as a digital knowledge resource, or can be alluded to a medium that stores information for a huge scope and is teamed up with the information the board gadget equipped for showing the information or information required by the client. Digital libraries can be extensively characterized as an information stockpiling and recovery frameworks that control digital information in the media (text, pictures, sound, static or dynamic) on the web. The main aim of this study is to study the awareness and using pattern of digital library by the researchers, to analyse the influence of digital library on researchers’ efficiency, analyse the purpose of using Digital Library Consortium, decide the effect of problems and motivational components of the digital library on the users, evaluate the satisfaction level of users with coverage of journals and perspectives on training and awareness programs and propose the available resources for effective utilization of the Digital Library.

f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.

This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.

A system in a decentralized architecture.
Long-term preservation of Brazilian scientific
publications, concerns open access periodicals
published in Brazil.
Archive of the doctoral theses.
Archive, catalog and preservation of research data.
Financed by the Brazilian Government and in
particular by the MCTI (Ministério da Ciência,
Tecnologia and Inovação). The MCTI gave resources
to IBICT from 2013-2015.
The network is currently composed of 11 nodes.
http://cariniana.ibict.br 10
11. Everything started as...
Seven Brazilian public universities.
The insertion and storage of
electronic journals on the LOCKSS
platform of the partner
institutions that have free access
publications.
Free membership of institutions.
Services to those institutions that
have free access publications.
http://cariniana.ibict.br 11
12. The Network from here...
The Cariniana staff consists of 27 people, only 2 are
full time, 15 are civil servants from the partner
institutions.
The archive's dimensions: 282 GB for 772 open access
journals, for 13,327 Archival Units archived.
All archived electronic journals use OJS as a platform.
The institutions served by the network are 165
universities and Brazilian research centers.
We have still 425 OJS journals in process and 83 from
22 institutions waiting to be included.
The Brazilian network does not write plugins
autonomously.
http://cariniana.ibict.br 12
13. Developing a trusted space for
researchers datasets
Over the years, several methods have been used to store
research results. However, these methods do not use a
standardization of retrieval, availability and preservation of
research data for the scientific community.
These data were stored inappropriately or even discarded
without any management in the storage process.
Research data need to be structured, organized, made available
and preserved so that future generations can use and
understand the information described in them.
http://cariniana.ibict.br 13
19. Conclusion
http://cariniana.ibict.br 19
As distributed digital preservation solution, Stanford University's
LOCKSS program meets the requirements mentioned in the OAIS
reference model, even though it has a distributed architecture,
which did not interfere with compliance with these guidelines.
Cariniana Network follows the relevant internationally
established standards and best practices for definitions of access,
archiving and dissemination of preserved digital documents.
Following the commitment of the IBICT to managing the life cycle
of the digital collections and making the scientific and
technological information available in the long term, the objective
of the Cariniana network is focused on the fulfillment of the
functional requirements that allow the preservation and real
custody of these collections.
