Corporate Express implemented a wireless field service automation solution using AT&T Wireless' network to eliminate inefficient paper-based processes. Drivers now receive electronic manifests on handheld devices and capture customer signatures digitally. This allows faster deliveries and issue resolution while reducing paperwork. A pilot program was successful, improving efficiencies and increasing driver enthusiasm. Corporate Express plans to fully deploy the solution across its operations.
The document discusses how transportation and logistics companies can reinvent customer relationships through cloud-based CRM. It notes that traditional CRM systems from vendors like Oracle and SAP often fail for these industries due to lack of industry-specific functionality. However, companies like Lanetix are now providing cloud-based CRM solutions built specifically for transportation and logistics needs, allowing companies to access industry-focused tools through a reliable cloud platform. These "pacesetters" that adopt innovative cloud solutions are growing faster and more profitable than competitors still relying on outdated models.
An anonymous trucking company sought a mobile safety reporting solution due to lack of reliable reporting, lost/illegible paper documents, and time spent compiling data manually. Canvas helped implement mobile audit forms for crews to submit from the field in real-time. This improved the completion of daily audits by 100% and saved 90 hours of productivity. Accuracy of data improved by pre-populating forms, saving $36,000 annually by eliminating paper. Real-time reporting and integration with their QuickBase system allowed for more proactive safety management instead of reactive responses after accidents.
BNP Paribas implemented a new dynamic publishing solution called eComtail from Quark to replace its outdated in-house tool for customizing marketing materials across its 2,500 French branches. eComtail provides an intuitive interface that allows non-technical users to quickly and easily edit templates and add customized content. It streamlines approval workflows and ensures brand consistency. The solution was deployed rapidly and has increased responsiveness, reduced material creation times, and improved standardization.

Oscar Murray presented on a new methodology for shipping systems that integrates web services to leverage the flexibility of home-grown systems and speed of third-party solutions. This allows decreasing deployment time, increasing carrier options and functionality. Murray described how a pharmaceutical company benefited from integrating their SAP system with a third-party shipping suite using web services to eliminate issues and save 4-7% on shipping costs. Murray emphasized the importance of thorough planning, documentation, and addressing all business requirements when developing shipping systems.

#2: To obtain the necessary transportation capabilities in a short timeframe, what type of software purchase option should myIoT pursue? Explain.
The software purchase option that myIoT, Inc. should pursue would be a SaaS application. This is an Internet based service where the software is accessed online and there is no need to have it installed on site. This is a less expensive option than purchasing software and licenses, and it allows access to the outside vendors. It is also cheaper than hosted software. Based on the cloud location, the setup time is faster, which is what myIoT needs for a two-month turnaround.
#3: What types of technology implementation challenges might myIoT face? How can these risks be minimized?
Application integration would pose a challenge. Since there is a short time-frame, ensuring all partners are “up and running” could be their biggest issue. There will need to be a training period for all that access the data. Should any of their vendors not have the same capabilities, this could throw off their entire operation. Also, due to the variety of systems organizing and sharing information might be a problem. MyIot would need to work with its supply chain partners and vendors to ensure they are all capable using the chosen TMS and begin to implement it right away. This will allow extra time to make changes and enforce training sessions.

2. To obtain the necessary transportation capabilities in a short timeframe, what type of software purchase option should myIoT pursue? Explain.
My Iot should pursue a well designed TMS software system. This system specializes in planning the flow of materials across the supply chain. It's the core of routing, rating, and, executing shipments across multiple modes tracking, load tracing, and freight settlement. The capabilities and scope of TMS expands the software to a much more integrative system. It provides support for transportation strategic, tactical, and operational planning, as well as delivery execution, in transit visibility and performance evaluation. TMS also supports appointment scheduling, metrics monitoring, and freight bill auditing.
3. Whats types of technology implemenation challenges might my iot face? How can these risks be minized?
My Iot could potentially loose time in wages, delay of shipment, and possibly loose business with customers, but these risks could be minimized by implementing better planning, develop training within your team, create effective structure and monitor the technology program by following these simple steps below to correct system and human error as they occur:
· Secure the commitment of senior management

CM-CIC Asset Management previously produced 150 financial sheets manually each month but switched to QuarkXPress Server to automate production. This tripled output to over 400 sheets monthly while reducing production time by a third. The system standardized data input, ensured accuracy, and allowed expanding to additional languages and departments.
An industrial minerals provider needed to evaluate order profitability based on its current network configuration, as transportation costs comprised a large portion of expenses and customer needs were volatile. The company deployed LLamasoft's Supply Chain Guru and Data Guru tools to model its network daily. This allowed it to consider profitability across the entire network rather than individually. As a result, the company increased revenue 3% without expanding, by better fulfilling previously deemed "unprofitable" orders based on the model's recommendations. Increased network visibility also helped transportation and capacity planning decisions.

Convoy has launched a new initiative called Convoy for Brokers that allows third-party freight brokers to access Convoy's network of carriers. This will provide brokers with more capacity options to ensure loads are covered. The goal of Convoy is to transport goods globally with no waste, and collaborating with other logistics firms helps achieve this. Brokers will benefit from an increased carrier base and elastic capacity, while carriers will gain more opportunities and reduce empty miles. Convoy has designed the program based on its experience working with logistics providers. It aims to reduce inefficiencies in the freight industry through new capacity procurement and automation techniques. The Convoy app now displays loads from Convoy and third-party brokers, giving carriers

Third party freight brokers now have access to the convoy networkjamesservices
