The document outlines the history of the development of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system at a large company from the 1990s to 2010s. It discusses the company's implementation of SAP modules over multiple phases to digitize business processes and integrate operations. The ERP system aimed to provide visibility across the entire organization and synchronize business functions while allowing for future growth and product innovation.
1) The document discusses automatic edge polishing machines and compares using silicon carbide abrasives to using diamond abrasives.
2) It notes that while older machines struggled using silicon carbide, newer machines and replacing abrasives with diamonds results in faster processing, better finishes, and increased production rates.
3) Key advantages of diamonds include removing more material faster, improving throughput, extending disk life, and allowing older machines to be used profitably again.
This document discusses using diamond abrasives for radial arm polishing machines. It summarizes that:
1) Radial arm polishing machines are commonly used to resurface damaged stone, but traditional silicon carbide abrasives work better for softer stones like marble than harder stones like granite.
2) Using diamond abrasives instead can allow radial arm polishers to more effectively polish even hard stones like granite at higher speeds than traditional methods.
3) Increasing the rotational speed of older radial arm machines through different pulley combinations enables diamond abrasives to achieve the peripheral speeds needed for optimal polishing performance.
1. A joint development program between Abrasive Technology, Inc. and GE Superabrasives was conducted to test the use of diamond tools for polishing granite and marble.
2. Extensive testing was performed using a customized slab polishing machine across a range of stone types, tool formulations, and operating parameters.
3. The testing found that diamond tools could produce outstanding finishes in less time than conventional abrasives and optimized operating parameters were identified.
As state and local tax jurisdictions experience sales tax revenue decreases and their revenue expectations shrink, they will aggressively look for non-payers through enforcement of the nexus concept. Paychex can help you automate your sales tax payments and keep you in compliance.
The document discusses a study conducted by Abrasive Technology, Inc. to analyze techniques for polishing granite and marble edges using diamond tools. The study collected data from stone fabrication shops on the forces applied and times taken during edge polishing using various tools, stones, and techniques. The results showed large variations in techniques, operating parameters, and finish quality between operators. The document provides recommendations for optimizing the polishing process to improve finish and productivity.
The document describes The Butterfly Strategic Planning Model, which involves analyzing a company's situation using the 4Cs framework: consumer/customer, category/industry/regulatory, competition, and company. It then outlines implications, objectives, strategies, and plans based on the situation analysis. The model is an iterative process that incorporates continuous feedback to track progress and make adjustments, with the overall goal of answering "What?", "So what?", and "Now what?" to develop an effective strategic plan.
The document summarizes the forces acting on a plank resting on a roller and floor. It uses equations of equilibrium to solve for the normal force N and friction f when the plank begins to slip at an angle of 70 degrees. This allows calculating the coefficient of static friction μs between the plank and floor as 0.34.

1. The document discusses the history and evolution of print media and online journalism.
2. It describes how printed products like newspapers and magazines were created regularly and distributed in multiple copies, and how the invention of the rotary press helped increase production.
3. The summary then explains the rise of online journalism, with news content now being produced and distributed via the Internet, often by journalists working for mainstream media organizations.

Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.
Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
