Capacity building workshops were held to help coastal communities strengthen their research skills. A range of topics were covered including co-producing research, policy evaluation, and qualitative and quantitative methods. The workshops were well-attended and feedback was positive, with 73% of attendees reporting being very satisfied. Highlights included stimulating discussions and the welcoming atmosphere. Suggestions for improvement included providing information packets and incorporating more active engagement and practical group activities. Further capacity building efforts included a residential workshop and sessions on literature reviews, with feedback noting the usefulness of search tips but a need for more interaction.
