Young people bear witness to challenging or traumatic events in current events, media, and our local communities. Their thoughts, feelings, and reactions enter school spaces whether we introduce conversations or not. We adults have a natural instinct to protect our children from harsh realities and yet prepare them to navigate this complex world - is it possible to do both? What are ways to talk about identity, difference, and justice in age appropriate ways? How do you reinforce school values without shutting down perspectives? How do you facilitate authentic and respectful dialogue across difference? Engage in these questions and more through this interactive session.

Understanding business decisions to use alternative financing methods for cap...Sunipod Solar
We look at the use-case of businesses installing onsite captive solar photovoltaic (CaptiveSolar) solutions to reduce their electricity bills. For simplicity we only consider a case where the business receives no revenue from the CaptiveSolar system, so its yearly benefit is calculated as electricity expense savings compared to the utility tariffs multiplied by the expected CaptiveSolar system production. We examine 2 popular financing methods. Through these methods we analyze the considerations that influence their choice and outline the costs and benefits of each method.

What Millennials Want & HR Needs: The Next Generation of Brand AmbassadorsSocialHRCamp
In this workshop, we will discuss how to build employer branding awareness by leveraging millennials’ desire to share on social media. The generation full of narcissistic, self-entitled, and laziest millennials…is simply a myth. While many people gripe about “kids these days” having no work ethic, the millennial generation is entering and firmly embedded in the modern workforce. The goal for HR is to develop a culture of work that leverages the strengths of a multi-generational workforce to be more collaborative and productive, which we will explore in this workshop.
THRIVING IN A MULTI-GENERATIONAL WORLD - MILLENNIALS to BOOMERSSteve Dosier
Workforce trends and the existence of a multi-generational workforce pose unique challenges to today’s business environment. Understanding each generation is critical to optimizing an organization’s culture.
Today’s workplace is made up of several different generations of employees. Two generations that can be radically different are the Baby Boomers and those just entering the work force, the Millennials.
This presentation provides an in-depth overview of the diversity in trends, education, beliefs and values in the workplace. When the groups e balanced, they bring value to an organization.
The current state of technology leaves a lot of people out - of innovation, education, the workforce, wealth and opportunity. This interactive workshop explores the current state for women and underrepresented minorities in tech, then delves into what each of us can do about it.
This workshop was given at Tech.co's Celebrate Tech Conference, and adapted from a talk I initially gave at AlterConf.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.
