This document describes a case study of using sterile maggot larvae to treat a malignant wound. An 80-year-old man had a squamous cell carcinoma on his chest that did not respond to chemotherapy and radiation. His large, painful wound produced a strong odor. Applying sterile maggot larvae successfully removed dead tissue and reduced the odor within a few days. Although the treatment was initially effective, the patient stopped due to pain and opted for conventional dressings instead.
