This document describes CampusMovil.net, a proposed social network for the Spanish university community that can be accessed via mobile devices. It aims to provide an unofficial virtual campus with exclusive access through institutional email accounts. The network will be located at the intersection of Web 2.0, mobile technology, and European higher education innovation policies. It has support from Catalan government programs and is the result of R&D starting at Stanford University in 2007. The founders plan to partner with universities and launch in 2008-2009, then expand to other countries after 2010 while monetizing through contextual ads, banners, customized services, and licensing fees.
