Requirements for innovative services and business modelsOlgaRodrguezLargo
This deliverable reports the identification of stakeholder requirements, specifications and KPIs at B2B and B2C level collected through a wide consultation of consumers, service companies and industrial stakeholders.
To this aim, diverse methods of data collection were performed including:
• Detailed interviews not only with all industrial partners in the CarE- Service consortium but also with the support of the project stakeholder group and other relevant companies in the value chain.
• Comprehensive consultation with some members of the project consumer committee and additional consumer associations.
• Exploratory open-ended discussions in the form of focus groups with diverse themes of B2C requirements for future sustainable/circular business models and services.
• European Survey of consumers’ view on non-ownership and
electrification in mobility services.
• Literature review on the state of the art of mobility services and car sharing business models
Thanks to the above data collection channels, the business model and service engineering requirements and KPIs were identified and quantified, where possible, categorized in following six value chains:

- Metal re-use value chain
- Techno-polymer re-use value chain
- Business model of the ICT Platform
- Business model of the SMMs

Jason has spent over 20 years working in construction, predominantly in
highways. He joined Surrey in November 2007 as the Contracts Manager,
responsible for the Surrey Highways Partnership. In September 2009 Jason
was appointed as Interim Head of Surrey Highways, and lead the service
through an extensive period of change, involving an organisational
restructure, developing and tendering new contracts, changing processes and
systems, and reducing expenditure on highways by approximately 20%.
In July 2010 Jason was appointed as Head of Change and Performance,
managing change across the Environment and Infrastructure Directorate,
which includes Highways, Waste, Transport, Countryside and Planning. Jason
is also leading on the development of the South East 7 highways alliance.
Jason has been asked by DfT to Chair one of the Groups on the Highways
Maintenance Efficiency Programme. This Group – Business Improvement –
has the objective of providing Local Highway Authorities with practical tools that will help ensure that both they and their partners have the capability to implement efficiency measures.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
