Interactive whiteboards were initially introduced in 1991 with the goal of promoting student-centered learning through technology in classrooms. They aimed to replace traditional chalkboards. Early adoption faced challenges from outdated technology at the time. Widespread adoption required overcoming resistance from veteran teachers hesitant to change and the use of professional development training to demonstrate the innovation's benefits. For the technology to be fully adopted, it must match the needs of the educational organization.

The presentation I presented at the local Belgium Innovate conference. It gives an overview of how the IBM Rational portfolio can be used to address the challenges of Mobile application lifecycle management
My presentation for our Benelux IBM Rational Innovate event. This presentation explains how the IBM Bluemix and devops as a service solution can be used for modern cloud based development.
This presentation tries to give an overview of the fascinating world of mobile development. It is not the purpose to give any details on a given technology, but it tries to give an overview of the various possibilities. Although the presentation looks at technologies and initiatives from various parts of the industry there are some more details on a certain number of IBM initiative given my background.

Virtual Communities of Practice – does technology make a difference?Paul Penfold
How can new technologies be introduced to help the growth of Communities of Practice?. What are some useful tools and how do you choose the most appropriate technologies to develop and enhance the Community.
FACTORS AFFECTING KNOWLEDGE SHARING USING VIRTUAL PLATFORMS – A VALIDATION OF...ijmpict
Knowledge sharing is an important initiative in creating competitive advantage. As an important tool in the
successful implementation of Knowledge Management (KM), sharing knowledge is seen to be the most
important practice and resource which organization possesses. Various organizations have developed
strategies to ensure that KM is successful by embedding knowledge sharing practices in their routine work
processes. Nowadays, people have been using virtual platforms and web-based technologies, such as
Internet, Intranet, blogs, social media, and other online technology, for sharing knowledge and
information. The purpose of this study is to evaluate factors that can inculcate knowledge sharing behavior
using the virtual platforms. Therefore, this study will adopt Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of
Technology (UTAUT) to investigate the key factors on this sharing behavior. The UTAUT model adopted in
this paper is empirically tested on a sample of 510respondents, and significant relationships among these
constructs were found.
Theories of Learning, Emerging Technologies & Authoring Tools for Course Desi...Remo-tito Aguilar
In an environment where there’s rapid, cyclic emergence of DE technologies, theories of learning should guide our choice of tools in designing and developing elearning courses. On the other hand, theories of learning should also be enriched by practice of this authoring technologies
This is a presentation that I gave at the 2011 Middle School Conference at the Gold Coast. I was presenting about how to create sustainable change within a school. It using the diffusion of innovations as a framework and focuses on getting the teachers involved in the process of deciding on the relevance of the innovation and implementing the innovation.
At present, the state-of-the-art supplies for conducting a face-to-face design thinking workshop typically consists of self-stick notes and stickers, markers, and whiteboards. However, this analog way of working is incongruent with the realities of global software companies, where most products and services are developed by distributed teams. This paper explores the process of facilitating remote design thinking workshops, using information technology and communication tools. The paper is based on a participatory action research undertaken by the author as a part of the doctoral thesis - ‘a study on an approach to prepare the organization mindset to build design-led innovation culture to become a customer-centric and future driven software company’ in the Indian IT sector. The participating company realized the innovation breakthroughs using design thinking can happen only when their organization can collaborate across disciplines, silos, time zones; and were looking for a solution to scale design thinking in their organization. Editor's Notes
As an educator, I feel that the use of technology is a tool that can beutilized to enhance my students’ learning. As a first grade elementary teacher, I find that my six years old students need active engagement in their learning environment. They require a lot of hands on learning. One innovation that will prove most beneficial inside my classroom is the interactive whiteboard.
In 1986, David Martin developed a product idea in which he shared with his business partner, Nancy Knowlton. The idea was to design a product that would replace the chalkboard inside the classroom.
Martin and Knowlton development consisted of a whiteboard, computer, anda LCD projector. The development of thisinnovation would enhance the way people work and learn.Intel Corporation funded the developmentof the innovation.
The adoption of the Smart board shows resistance in the earlier years and then toward the latter years it has taken off due to increased popularity.
The early adopters of the Smart Board are educators and school board officials. Persuasive strategies for adoption are:Differentiated InstructionStudent Centered Learning environmentsTechnology Driven LessonsClassroom picture of Smart board being used.
Veteran teachers are resistant to change because they are set in their ways. Technology present challenges and they are hesitant to learn from a new teacher.
Rogers, E. M. (2003). Diffusion of innovations (5th ed.). New York, NY: Free PressDecentralized approach allows innovations to be created based on locally perceived needs and problems. There is a need to create an interactive classroom, that takes the control from the teacher and involves the student more.

Rogers, E. M. (2003). Diffusion of innovations (5th ed.). New York, NY: Free PressAn innovation that will meet the needs of all students regardless of their diverse backgrounds with the use of technology.
The role of the champion is to make sure that the need is met
Here are two websites that provides lessons and resources that teachers can use with their SMART Board inside their classroom. In conclusion,Interactive white boards provide hands-on learning with the use of technology. It gives students an in-depth learning experience and they have learning. Of course, as with any adoption of new technology, I feel teachers should be trained on how to use the interactive white board in order for the adoption to be successful. Thank you for listening to my presentation.
