The document proposes establishing a Department of Methodology to better coordinate transdisciplinary sport science support. A Department of Methodology would use ecological dynamics as a theoretical framework to guide an integrated approach across sub-disciplines like strength training, nutrition, and psychology. This would help overcome issues like "silo working" by providing shared principles, language, and a unified conceptual framework to collaboratively design practice environments and emergent behaviors. The goal is to holistically support athletes through a coordinated case approach focused on their needs.

A new approach in team sports analysis consists in studying positioning and movements of players during the game in relation to team performance. State of the art tracking systems produce spatio-temporal traces of players that have facilitated a variety of research aimed to extract insights from trajectories. Several methods borrowed from machine learning, network and complex systems, geographic information system, computer vision and statistics have been proposed. After having reviewed the state of the art in those niches of literature aiming to extract useful information to analysts and experts in terms of relation between players' trajectories and team performance, this paper presents preliminary results from analysing trajectories data and sheds light on potential future research in this eld of study. In particular, using convex hulls, we find interesting regularities in players' movement patterns.
The document summarizes research investigating the transfer of skills from futsal to soccer. The research found that playing futsal led to greater ball contacts, passes, dribbles and interceptions compared to small-sided soccer games. Specifically, futsal increased passing by 29%, dribbling by 33% and interceptions by 33%. The conclusion is that futsal provides more opportunities for technical decision making than soccer small-sided games. Going forward, the researcher hopes to conduct more studies and obtain funding to further analyze the benefits of futsal for developing soccer skills.

Metulini, R., Manisera, M., Zuccolotto, P. (2017), Space-Time Analysis of Mov...University of Salerno
Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are nowadays intensively used in Sport Science as they permit to capture the space-time trajectories of players, with the aim to infer useful information to coaches in addition to traditional statistics. In our application to basketball, we used Cluster Analysis in order to split the match in a number of separate time-periods, each identifying homogeneous spatial relations among players in the court. Results allowed us to identify differences in spacing among players, distinguish defensive or offensive actions, analyze transition probabilities from a certain group to another one.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the GPS-derived physical activity profiles of an Olympic Games versus other in-season international hockey tournaments.
Methods: 10Hz GPS units were used to assess the activity profiles (Total Distance: TD; High Speed Running Distance: HSR; Sprint Distance: SD & Max Velocity: MV) of outfield players in a men’s international hockey squad. Data was collected during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games (OG), an Olympic Games qualifying tournament (World League 3; WL3) and a regular in-season competitive tournament (6 Nations: 6N).
“An analytical study on medal tally of top ten countries in 2012 Olympic Game...IOSR Journals
The origin of the ancient Olympic Games is lost the midst of pre-history, but for many centuries they
were only a festival of the Greek people. The Games were first held in honour of the Greek God, Zeus in 776
BC in the plain of kingdom of Elis, nestled in lush valley between the Alpheus River and Mount Kronion, 15
km from the Ionian Sea. The Olympiad celebrated that year was considered as the first and was used to date
subsequent historic events.
Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are nowadays intensively used in Sport Science as they capture the
trajectories of players and /or the ball, sometimes together with play-by-play recording the time of match
events, with the aim of infer to supply coaches, experts and analysts with useful information in addition to
traditional statistics. To find any regularities and synchronizations in players‘ trajectories, and to study their
relationship with team's performance, however, is a complex task, because of the strong interdependencies
among players in the court and because of external factors that can influence players. To this aim, a variety
of methods has been proposed in Sport Science literature, which borrow from the disciplines of Machine
Learning, Network and Complex Systems, Geographical Information Systems, Computer Vision and Statistics.
In this seminar, with an application to basketball, I propose a methodological approach that can be
generalized to other team sports. I first demonstrate the usefulness of a visual tool approach in order to
extract preliminar insights from trajectories, then, I use data mining techniques such as Cluster Analysis and
Multidimensional Scaling to decompose the game into homogeneous phases in terms of spatial relations.
To conclude, I present specific research questions, such as: i) who is the most influencing player of the team?
ii) how much each player influences the others? iii) how much trajectories are determined by trajectories of
other players and by external factors? where the adoption of methods traditionally used in Spatial Statistics
and Spatial Econometrics could have a potential. In this regard, the seminar is also intended as a `platform”
to launch new research challenges and to search for collaboration

The document discusses the emerging roles of sports coaches based on a study conducted in the Philippines. It identifies four key roles that coaches play: (1) Motivator - to encourage and inspire athletes, (2) Instructor - to teach skills and techniques, (3) Supervisor - to manage training and provide direction, and (4) Assessor - to evaluate performance and provide feedback. These four roles - Motivator, Instructor, Supervisor, Assessor - form a new model called MISA that captures the essential functions of coaches in developing competent athletes. The study concludes that coach education should emphasize preparing coaches to fulfill these critical roles.
This dissertation investigates the motivations of males and females for participating in obstacle course races. The author conducted a survey of over 600 obstacle course race participants to determine their motivations. The survey was based on an existing motivation scale for marathon runners but was adapted for obstacle course races. The results showed that both males and females rated personal achievement, affiliation with obstacle course racing, and health orientation as very important motivations. Competition was more important for males than females but was not as important as other motivations for either gender. The study concluded that fun, excitement and the uncertain nature of obstacle courses are also key motivations for participants, and may be even more important for sustaining participation than other motivational factors.
This review summarizes research on the match demands of elite men's rugby sevens. Physical performance is measured using GPS and involves high total distances and high-speed running compared to other team sports. Technical performance is measured using match statistics and involves executing offensive and defensive skills to score or prevent points. However, the factors influencing changes in physical and technical performance have not been investigated. There is a lack of research on the situational and individual factors affecting performance in elite rugby sevens. Future studies with larger sample sizes are needed to better understand these influences and help coaches improve player preparation.
This study examined small-sided games for young Scottish football players using video analysis software. Researchers observed U12 players participating in 4v4, 7v7, and 11v11 games to collect data on their touches, passing, skills, and other metrics. Previous research found that small-sided games are better for developing youth players as 11v11 is too complex. The study aims to inform the debate on youth development and provide recommendations for future policy.
Game Sense is a student-centered approach that uses modified games to develop skills and understanding of sports. It focuses on tactical elements over technical skills. Students learn skills in the context of playing modified games. This encourages social interaction, autonomy, and allows students to see improvements. Fundamental movement skills like balance, jumping, throwing, and catching can be developed through Game Sense by including them in modified games like Newcombe Ball or cricket.

This document summarizes a study that examined how supporters of Turkish football clubs use the Facebook pages of their favorite teams. The study surveyed 639 supporters and found that they most commonly use Facebook for gaining knowledge about their team and following/supporting them. Nearly half of supporters access Facebook daily and have followed their team's page for 1-2 years. Most supporters log in from both computer and phone. While about half see themselves as passive viewers, others comment, contribute posts or follow discussions, but few create original content themselves. The findings suggest Facebook allows supporters varied levels of involvement without extensive technical knowledge.

Psaroudakis: Family and Football – The Psaroudakis Success StoryPsaroudakis
Psaroudakis, a name that resonates with football fans around the globe, is a testament to the powerful synergy between familial support and individual passion. Born on March 10, 1992, in the historic city of Heraklion, Crete, Psaroudakis’ journey to international football stardom is a compelling narrative of dedication, perseverance, and unwavering family support. His story not only highlights his athletic prowess but also underscores the crucial role his family played in shaping his career and character.
Psaroudakis’ early life in Heraklion was deeply influenced by a supportive and nurturing family environment. His father, a former semi-professional footballer, recognized Psaroudakis’ potential from an early age. Acting as his first coach, his father’s guidance was instrumental in igniting Psaroudakis’ passion for football. This paternal influence instilled in him a strong work ethic and fundamental skills that would become the foundation of his future success. His mother, a dedicated homemaker, provided a stable and nurturing environment, ensuring that Psaroudakis could pursue his dreams without any hindrances.
From a young age, Psaroudakis showed an innate talent for football. Growing up in Heraklion, he spent countless hours playing football in local parks and streets with friends and family. His natural ability was evident even in these informal settings, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. By the age of five, Psaroudakis had joined a local youth football club, where his skills began to flourish. His father’s role as his first coach during these formative years was crucial, as he emphasized not only technical skills but also the importance of discipline and teamwork.
The transition from playing in local parks to joining a structured football environment marked a significant step in Psaroudakis’ journey. At the age of ten, he joined the youth academy of OFI Crete, one of Greece’s most esteemed football clubs. This move marked the beginning of a more rigorous and professional approach to his training. The academy environment was demanding, focusing on honing technical abilities and instilling values of sportsmanship and dedication. Psaroudakis’ dedication to his craft was evident as he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a standout player in the youth teams.
The support of Psaroudakis’ family was unwavering during this critical period. His father continued to be a source of guidance and mentorship, while his mother ensured that he had everything he needed to succeed. Their collective efforts created a balanced environment where Psaroudakis could focus entirely on his development as a footballer. This familial support was not just about providing the basics; it was about creating an environment where Psaroudakis felt encouraged and motivated to pursue his dreams relentlessly.
As Psaroudakis transitioned from the youth academy to professional football, the challenges became more significant.

"Of course, you prefer to take players who are fully fit, but that's okay. We want to wait and be patient for some players even if they cannot play in those first matches," he told a press conference. The 37-year-old Vertonghen, Belgium’s Euro Cup 2024 most-capped international with 154 appearances, is struggling to shake off a groin injury.
"He will be there normally. This also applies to Youri Tielemans and Arthur Theate. The latter's position is very sensitive. We don't have many choices at left back. "It will only change if it turns out that they will only be available when, say, the final of the Euro 2024 Championship comes around. That's too long to wait. "However, I am confident that the injured boys are on track for the Euros.
Belgium vs Romania: Radu Dragusin Prepares for Crucial Role in Euro Cup Germany
Some of them have taken not one but two steps forward in their rehabilitation," he said. None of the injured players will feature in this week’s warm-up friendlies against Montenegro and Luxembourg. Romania centre-back Radu Dragusin found chances limited at Tottenham Hotspur in the second half of the 2023-24 season.
But is crucial to his country's cause at UEFA Euro 2024 where his aerial ability, physicality and hard graft make him a standout player. The 22-year-old moved to North London from Italian side Genoa in January but was kept on the sidelines by the form of another new arrival for the season, Mickey van de Ven, something Romania coach Edward Iordanescu admitted was a concern.
It will mean limited game-time going into the finals, but Dragusin, who cites Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk as a role model, started every Euro Cup Germany qualifier as Romania went through the campaign unbeaten in their 10 games. He will be among their most important players in their first game in Germany against Ukraine in Munich on June 17, taking the right centre-back role in what is likely to be a back four.

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to analyze the shots and goals scored of the teams competing in the Ice Hockey
World Championships (2013) according to their regions. The aim is to develop new recommendations specific to
the branch of ice hockey aimed at the distribution of shots and goals scored in ice hockey according to their
regions by discussing and comparing the findings of this analysis with the other results and findings in the
literature. The research group is the four ice hockey teams including South Africa, Israel, Ireland and Turkey
participating in the organization of U18 World Championship that had held in Kocaeli Province of Turkey. Visual
recordings of six competitions of these four teams were obtained from Turkish Ice Hockey Federation. Visual
records and videos of the competitions that stored in the compact disk were viewed and goals scored and shots
were marked on the template rink which had been created previously and determined according to the teams and
areas by marking method and using paper and pencil. Marked data were shown on rink template in terms of
percentage and frequency. In addition, goals scored in all competitions and their ratios were presented in tabular
form. Data obtained were analyzed according to areas in the form of percentage and frequency. As a result, it
was seen that most of the shots have been made from the circular area in front of the net and most of the goals
are scored by the team which shoots more than the opponent. According to these statistical records, it has to be
provided to give more time to shooting trainings in order to reach more scores and a series of exercises for the
circular area in front of the net. Supporting these kinds of analysis studies for the branch of ice hockey is so
important in terms of development of performances of skaters and use of the areas in order to score more goals.

1. INTRODUCTION
It has been tried to find answers to the questions of levels of competition performances of teams and
skaters and how this required to be determined by using competition analysis. Scientific analysis in terms of
performance, are a tool for the improvement of future results and aim to improve the process during the
competition (McGarry, 2009). These analysis enable to collect information about the movements during the
competition and to reach the desired information instantly and allow the athlete to assess himself additionally.
Especially, use of these analysis during the competition for the sports branches newly emerging in our country
contributes to the development of sports. Researches in this direction are continuously continuing and different
analysis models are being developed (Beetz et al, 2009). Objective observation and keeping the movements that
may occur during the competition is very difficult that many observers and managers have developed many
analysis methods appropriate for their aims. The simplest method is to use paper and pencil method and to
record data. (Imamoğlu, Cebi and Kilcigil, 2007).
McGarry (2009) touched on the subject that analysis results of sports performances avail to the
establishment of relationship between the application and theory. When viewed from this perspective, it can be
said that competition analysis can contribute to the development of athletes and technical and tactical decisions.
Kilpivaara (2012) has pointed out the existence of many cases and situations such as technique, tactics and types
of shots and diversity of achieving scores affecting the result during the competition.
The most important factor determining the result of a competition is "goal". Determination of structure of
offensive strategies and organizations resulted with goal and development of necessity-oriented training models
will increase the success of the sports branch (Sonmeyenmakas, 2008). No matter how a team is good in the rink
or produce how much more scoring chances, all its efforts will be meaningless if it cannot score goals. The
importance of scoring goals has been emphasized by a number of studies referring to this issue. Trainings and

studies aimed on scoring goals is one of the most important subjects on which many studies have been
performed in this issue for ice hockey (Cited by: Malkia, 2006; Westerlund 1992; Teivainen and Vahteristo 1995;
Sumkin and Vuorinen 2005). By considering the ultimate goal of the forward line is to produce the necessary
positions in order to score goal also in ice hockey such as the same with many sports, the team is required to
establish its play in the offensive zone in order to produce the necessary positions and to score goals. The most
important factors affecting to score are the position of the skater who will score points, the area, the direction of
the movement, speed and the technique. Malkia (2006) and Winkler (1993) touched on the subject that match
analysis are an integrative situation for the evaluation of general performance. They pointed out that many
parameters composing football have to be determined while evaluating the performance and have to be recorded
on a regular basis after examining according to their study on football.
Coaches can follow up the overall condition of their teams, individual performances of their players by
benefiting from match analysis studies specific to the branch based on scientific data and should use these
results and findings in favor of their teams and players (Gönener, Sertbas and Atali, Ozturk and Taskiran, 2004).
It has been seen that scientific methods for the movements in sports have been used for different sports in
recent times in addition to the other important contributions of sports sciences. Aims of increasing performance
and success lie at the bottom of these researches (McGarry, 2009). When viewed from these angles, this
research is considered to contribute to ice hockey. The fact that there are not so much researches in the branch
of ice hockey which is an emerging sports branch in our country further increases the importance of the research.
The analysis of shots and goals scored of teams participating in Ice Hockey World Championships (2013)
according to the areas and zones of these shots is considered to contribute to technical and tactical performances
of athletes and individual performances in the branch of Ice Hockey.
The aim of this study is to analyze the shots and goals scored of the teams competing in the Ice Hockey
World Championships (2013) according to their regions. The aim is to develop new recommendations specific to
the branch of ice hockey aimed at the distribution of shots and goals scored in ice hockey according to their
regions by discussing and comparing the findings of this analysis with the other results and findings in the
literature.

4. DISCUSSION
Shots and goals scored of the teams competing in the Ice Hockey World Championships (2013) have
been tried to be analyzed according to the areas and zones in this study. Recommendations specific to the
branch of ice hockey were developed aimed at the distribution of shots and goals scored according to the areas
and zones by discussing and comparing the findings obtained as a result of analysis performed in this study with
the other results in the literature in this section.
It was observed that the highest shot ratio was seen at the areas including area of the face-off circle (2)
that forms a circular area in front of the net, the crease area (1) and the big circle (3) respectively according to the
analysis performed during the study. The prominent characteristic of these areas is the fact that the player who
will shoot is able to see the net obviously. The most important factors affecting to score are the position of the
skater who will score points, the area, the direction of the movement, speed and the technique (Malkia, 2006).
According to the analysis of the areas and zones of goals scored, respectively, it was seen the most of the
goals scored were sent from the crease area (1), the area at the face-off circle (2) and the big circle (3). According
to a study conducted by Mensoken and Salo (2008), it was determined that the most of the goals scored were
sent from the crease area (1), the area at the face-off circle (2) and the big circle (3) respectively at the 2005
World Championships and the 2006 Olympic Games. And also an another study conducted by Sumkin and
Vourinen (2005) about the 2003 World Championships confirms these findings. It can be said that the zonal
distribution of the shots which are resulted as goals mostly and these findings show a similarity. Mikkola (1986)
has identified the most suitable area for shooting. According to him, the goal scoring possibility increases when
the shot is sent from a circular area in the offensive zone. In addition, Kostka (1971) approached to the event of
scoring from a different viewpoint during his studies about scoring and he used a triangular area in order to define
and describe the most suitable area for shooting. At the same time, he stated and argued that the midpoint of the
area seven meters from the net is the most suitable point for the final shot. (Malkia, 2006).
It was seen that the team which shot more than all the others is the team which scored more than all the
other teams and the team which shot less than all the others was the least scoring team of the organization. In
addition, the average of goals per competition was determined as 9,7 for the organization. It was determined that
the average of goals per competition was 5,4 at the 2006 Olympic Games and 5,2 at the 2005 World
Championships which had been examined by Saarinen, Mensonen and Small (2009).
As a result, it was seen that most of the shots have been made from the circular area in front of the net
and most of the goals are scored by the team which shoots more than the opponent. According to these statistical
records, it has to be provided to give more time to shooting trainings in order to reach more scores and a series of
exercises for the circular area in front of the net. Supporting these kinds of analysis studies for the branch of ice
hockey is so important in terms of development of performances of skaters and use of the areas in order to score
more goals.
