Day flying insects have three main body parts - a head, thorax, and abdomen - and often large and colorful fluttering wings. They feed on nectar from flowers and pollens and sap from trees, and are important pollinators with well-developed vision and hearing in some species. While cold-blooded, some insects can live in cold weather by hibernating, and others like monarchs and painted ladies migrate long distances to warmer areas.
