2. Passport and
Healthcare
• Passport must have both: at least 6 months left and
less than 10 years old (even if it has 6 months or
more left)
• It usually takes 3 weeks to renew your UK passport
• EEA nationals can still enter the UK with their
Identity Cards, which will be phased out by 2020
• Get appropriate travel insurance with healthcare
cover
• European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) may not be
valid

5. Taking goods
into the EU
• Check the limit on value of goods you can bring in
duty free.
• Export goods temporarily for business reasons over
the duty free limit, you can usually get an ATA
Carnet to avoid paying duty. This includes things
like:
• Samples to show at trade fairs or sales
meetings
• Publicity materials
• If you are taking a vehicle, get a CPD Carnet
instead.
• Licences for controlled goods – temporary licences
are available for some types for example:
• Controlled drugs for personal use
• Weapons or dual use goods and services
