To succeed in a modern digital world, healthcare industry must be data driven. Hospitals and healthcare institutions desire to make their workflows more efficient in order to meet demand. One way they can achieve this is with the help of business intelligence BI software. BI refers to the acquisition, correlation, and transformation of data into insightful and actionable information through analytics. Utilizing a BI software is an indispensable part of the growth process toward becoming data driven. In the modern healthcare environment, almost all BI initiatives will be driven by data analytics. This paper provides a brief examination of the deployment and constraints of business intelligence in healthcare. Matthew N. O. Sadiku | Adedamola Omotoso | Sarhan M. This document discusses challenges and opportunities around data analytics in the Indian healthcare sector. It notes that healthcare data comes in both structured and unstructured forms, and that while descriptive analytics are used, advanced predictive modeling is still limited. Specific challenges in India include a lack of standardized healthcare data and high costs that limit technology adoption. However, spending on healthcare IT is rising. The document argues that an affordable and customizable enterprise performance management solution could help integrate siloed data and provide real-time visibility to address issues like delayed discharges and unused bed capacity, improving efficiency and financial outcomes for hospitals.
Eight Reasons Why Chief Data Officers Will Help Healthcare Organizations Thri...Health Catalyst
The state of healthcare information technology and analytics has evolved to the point where a revised executive structure is advisable in the C-suite. This new structure calls for a Chief Data Officer (CDO) to focus on extracting data from systems and on mining value from that data, rather than getting data into systems, which is the responsibility of the CIO.
This article makes the case for the CDO, explains how the need for this emerging role evolved, outlines its responsibilities, advises on how to recruit and budget for this position, and details its domain in eight critical business areas:
Governance and standards
Managing risk
Reducing costs
Driving innovation
Data architecture and technology
Data analytics
Meeting regulatory demand
Creating business value
This document discusses the challenges healthcare CIOs face in calculating return on investment (ROI) for IT projects and gaining approval from leadership. It provides an overview of why ROI must be calculated, challenges in technology appraisal and deployment, and proposes using a 10 step economic analysis approach involving identifying costs and benefits to develop a business case. Key challenges include intangible benefits, long timeframes for returns, and skepticism from management. The document recommends CIOs use frameworks to convert intangible benefits to tangible factors and account for risks to more accurately assess potential ROI and impacts of IT projects.

How many times have you been surprised, and frustrated, to learn your IT capabilities won’t support a new or key business objective? Given the rapidly changing healthcare industry and multitude of new initiatives, this scenario happens all the time.
So how can you help ensure your IT components will work together, and can be leveraged to drive business results?
You need a blueprint — a way to align IT to the business – an IT Enterprise Architecture.
A sound Enterprise Architecture ensures your business is supported by IT components working together to deliver both a return-on-investment and projected business results.
Why Your Healthcare Business Intelligence Strategy Can't WinHealth Catalyst
Business intelligence may hold tremendous promise but it can’t answer healthcare’s challenges unless it’s built on the solid foundation of a clinical data warehouse. Learn the definition of business intelligence, why a clinical data warehouse is needed for any healthcare BI strategy, the various options in data warehousing, which one is most effective for hospitals and the industry and why.
The document discusses how digital technologies may change hospitals globally in the future based on a crowdsourcing simulation with healthcare experts. The simulation identified five potential uses of digital technologies in hospitals over the next 10 years: 1) clinical command centers to provide real-time patient data and predict patient harm, 2) personalized portable care through 3D printing and robotics, 3) cloud-based electronic health records using AI, 4) use of digital technologies to simplify processes and improve patient experience, 5) intelligent staff recruitment and scheduling using cognitive analytics. The document outlines benefits of each use and concludes that investments in digital technologies may improve quality of care and operational efficiencies in the long term.
The document provides information about Central Depository Company's (CDC) operations and activities from April to June 2013. Some key points:

This presentation provides a very brief snap-shot of a day long training program conducted recently at a company in India. In preparing the day long training session I had asked the following questions; (1) How to effectively communicate to an audience of a group of young and bright Indian professionals in any company in India and their supervisors/management about the importance of cGMPs and QbD? (2) How do I understand their challenges, perspectives and biases? (3) How do I connect with them to share the joy of Quality by Design?
The response received has been overwhelming from the audiences in India and yesterday at the Patheon Seminar in Bridgewater, NJ. I hope you will also the see some of the important dots and the connections. How this content connects to regulatory requirements is not covered in this slide deck – it connects via ‘A, B, C, D’ to 21 CFR, Quality Systems Approach to cGMP, ICH 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.

A business intelligence strategy is needed to align a company's analytics and data usage with its overall corporate strategy. Without a clear BI strategy, companies can end up with multiple versions of data truths, unclear business logic and definitions, wasted personnel overhead, and poor data quality. The key elements of a successful BI strategy are having the right data, the right people, and the right tools. A BI strategy should also address areas like roadmapping, stakeholder management, architectural blueprint, capability improvements, and implementation planning.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
