First impression matters.
The way you look and carry yourself creates an impact on the
people you get along with in the workplace.
It is important for both men and women.
Lack of these may lead to poor image and will lack to create

What is Etiquette?

• Its origin is from the French word étiquette meaning “ticket” or “label” attached to
something for identification.
• It involves treating people with regard, thoughtfulness, and courtesy in the same way
that you would like to be treated.
Need for Etiquette
• Etiquette makes you a cultured individual who leaves his mark wherever he goes.
• Etiquette teaches you the way to talk, walk and most importantly behave in the society.
• Etiquette is essential for an everlasting first impression. The way you interact with your superiors, parents,
fellow workers, friends speak a lot about your personality and up- bringing.
• Etiquette enables the individuals to earn respect and appreciation in the society.
Types of Etiquette
Social Etiquette-
• Humans are social creatures, it's critical that they adhere to specific social rules that
promote interpersonal connections.
• As the term implies, social etiquette refers to the manners you use when interacting with
members of your family, friends, coworkers, or complete strangers in public.
• How you are perceived and treated by others depends on your social graces. It might assist
you in making an impression that builds dependability and trust.
Example-
• Remembering People’s Names And Making Them Feel Good
• Saying ‘Sorry’ Or ‘Excuse Me’ Immediately After Sneezing
Types of Social Etiquette
Face to face etiquette-
• To introduce yourself and greet the other person, use your full name. To start a conversation,
just say, "Hello, nice to meet you." Building rapport is made simpler by a smile and a firm
handshake.
• Be mindful of your body language to avoid coming across as rude or unprofessional. A positive
attitude, eye contact, and good posture can significantly alter the situation.
Social media etiquette-
• Leave someone alone if they refuse your friendship or don't comply with your requests. Send a
message to that person and explain why you want to connect with them if it's important.
• Stay away from posting offensive content on your social media accounts. Own Up To Your
Errors And Express Your Apologies.
Business Etiquette-
• A collection of social and professional guidelines that control how people communicate and
interact with one another in professional contexts is known as business etiquette..
• You can use it to demonstrate to others the kinds of values and beliefs you hold. Businesses
are constantly searching for people who can carry themselves with dignity since some may
represent the company externally.
• It can aid you in making a strong impression, whether you're talking with clients or trying to
persuade customers. You exhibit superior emotional control and self-discipline in addition to
being kind and respectful to others

• Always arrive on time; if you are delayed, apologies and take a seat to prevent disrupting the
meeting's flow.
• A meeting agenda is frequently sent in advance by meeting organizers to assist you in planning and
setting expectations; Prepare for meetings and adhere to the agenda.
Workplace Etiquette
• Keep an open mind at work and be receptive to fresh perspectives from your coworkers and new
ideas.
