1. OVERALL TRENDS IN BUSINESS AVIATION ACTIVITY
169,474 business aviation flight departures from Europe in Q4 2017, marking a 6.2% YOY growth in activity. YOY growth
has accelerated in each of the last 3 Quarters. The full year activity was 573K flights, +4.5% compared to 2016.

2. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF FLIGHT ACTIVITY (a)
Widespread growth in YOY flight activity in Q4-17, notably in leading market France, 28K flights, up 7% YOY, Spain, +8%,
and Russia, flights +10%. Flight activity in Poland was up 28% YOY. Ukraine was one of the only declining markets.

The UK had the highest number of AOC flights in Q4-17, >14,000, growing 13% YOY. Private flights grew by most from
Spain. Other mission flights were up 19% in Switzerland, mainly Ambulance and Government flight activity.

The UK also had the largest number of Large Jet flights, 7,400, up 3% YOY. France had most growth in Large & Medium
Jet activity. Small jet activity in Spain, up 13% YOY, was 42% of all flights. 21% of activity in Italy was Prop, -4% YOY.

3. TRENDS IN FLEET SIZE AND ACTIVITY, BY AIRCRAFT TYPE (a)
Conspicuous growth in Large Jet activity, 46K departures, up 10% YOY. The active fleet of Large Jets increased 4%. Medium
Jet activity was stable, despite a 6% smaller active fleet. 1% growth in Small Jet tail signs, 7% pick-up in activity.

3. TRENDS IN FLEET SIZE AND ACTIVITY, BY AIRCRAFT TYPE (b)
The number of active ULR tail signs in Europe in Q4-17 increased by 7%, generating 6% increase in activity. Heavy Jet
flights were up 9%, despite the fleet being no larger YOY. An additional 10 VLJ tails, with the VLJ fleet 9% busier YOY.

4. MISSION SPLIT, AOC FLIGHT HOURS, INDICATIVE CHARTER PRICING TRENDS
48% of activity this Quarter was operated as AOC flights. Almost 35% of AOC flight hours operated in Q4-17 were flown
by ULR and HJ aircraft, this activity up by at least 20% YOY. Average MSJ pricing was up 2%, SMJ down by 1%.

5a. ESTIMATED EMPTY LEG [EL] ACTIVITY - DEPARTURES [BUSINESS JETS AOC ONLY]
Of the 60% of sectors which were flown AOC in Q4-17, an estimated 36% were empty legs. Light Jets operated most EL,
these increasing 11% YOY. SLJ ELs declined by 75 this Quarter. Overall, EL sectors were up by an estimated 7.5% YOY.

In terms of flight hours (FH), Empty Leg activity was only 14% of AOC activity. An estimated 4K hours
were flown empty on Light Jets, 10% up YOY. ULR and HJ EL hours were up a combined 571 hours YOY.

6. DISTRIBUTION OF FLIGHT ACTIVITY BY SECTOR LENGTH
Stand-out gains in Large and Small Jet activity in 3H-6H sectors in Q4-17. Medium Jet activity was down 5% for these
sectors, also -12% for longer sectors. Short sectors were up 5% overall, with 1.5H-3H sectors gaining 9% YOY.

Only 4 of the top 30 airports registered any decline in YOY activity in Q4-17. LFPB was the busiest, flights up 7%
YOY. 15% growth at EGLF, 17% increase at LIRA. Departures grew 20% or more at EGKB, EHAM, EBBR and LEMG.

7. ACTIVITY TRENDS AT BUSIEST EUROPEAN AIRPORTS (b)
LFMN and LKPR had the largest share of flights which operated under AOC. EGLF and EGKB had strongest growth in
these missions. Private flights were up 32% at LIRA. LIRA also had most Government/Military flights in Q4-17.

DEFINITIONS (1) – ACTIVITY COVERAGE
▪ This report covers business aviation activity, corresponding to all non-scheduled flights operated under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) which correspond
to fixed-wing single- and multi-engine business aviation aircraft categories.
▪ Broadly these categories are defined as: Heavy Jets, Medium Jets, Light Jets, Props. These categories are also broken down into the following segments:
Ultra-Long range jets, Heavy jets, Super midsize jets, Midsize jets, Superlight jets, Light jets, Entry level jets, Very light jets.
▪ Specific types of Airliner (Bizliner), Turboprop and Piston aircraft have also been included in the Report.
▪ The geographical coverage of this report corresponds to all such business aviation flights connecting to and from 46 countries in the European area
(reference map page 4). This includes both flights within this area, and between this area and the rest of the world.
▪ The principal measurement of activity is ´flight departures´ from the defined geographic area, broken down into flights to destinations within the area
(´domestic´) and flights to destinations in the rest of the world (´ROW´). Also arrivals into the European area from the rest of the world are featured.
Overflights are excluded.
▪ Aircraft activity data is sourced from EUROCONTROL, Civil Aviation Authorities, National Business Aviation Associations. Aircraft performance data is
sourced from Original Equipment Manufacturers.
▪ The report covers all types of Private (owner) and Commercial (AOC) flights, and also “Other” flights, including Air Ambulance/Medical, Government &
Military, and “Origin=Destination Flights”, mainly Training, but also including Maintenance, Check and Demonstration flights.
▪ Airport handling fees, Airfield fees, Fuel costs, Passenger Taxes and Charter Fees are sourced from Stratajet.
▪ Aircraft Charter Price trends and Passenger loads are sourced from PrivateFly. Empty Legs are estimated by WINGX, based on flight pattern analysis,
sector length, mission and aircraft type.
▪ All data analysis is carried out by WINGX through our proprietary activity tracking and data processing methodology.

Aircraft performance data is sourced from Original Equipment Manufacturers. ▪ The report covers all types of Private (owner) and Commercial (AOC) flights, and also “Other” flights, including Air Ambulance/Medical, Government & Military, and “Origin=Destination Flights”, mainly Training, but also including Maintenance, Check and Demonstration flights. ▪ Airport handling fees, Airfield fees, Fuel costs, Passenger Taxes and Charter Fees are sourced from Stratajet. ▪ Aircraft Charter Price trends and Passenger loads are sourced from PrivateFly.
