1. Signs of Bullying.
Being different can make a child more vulnerable to bullying
and exploitation by others.
While physical signs such as torn clothes, cuts and bruises are
easy to see the more subtle signs may be less easy to identify.
Look out for changes in your child’s behavior.
These could include:
* increased anxiety/obsessive or compulsive behaviors
* greater withdrawal ie becoming increasingly lost in his own
world
* a reluctance to go to school or the playground etc
* loss of weight - this may result from an increase in tension
which leads to stomach aches or simply an increased reluctance
to join his peers for meals
* bedwetting
* more frequent tantrums
* problems in the classroom
NB While such changes can result from bullying, children with
ASD often find change traumatic too - which might also cause
similar problems to those above
