4. Notre Dame cathedral
• Notre Dame is probably the best known
cathedral in the world. Construction on the
Cathedral began in 1163 by order of
Archbishop Sully. The building was made in
French Gothic architecture.
6. The Tower of London
• The Tower of London is a regal building,
probably most famous as a prison. Built by
William the Conqueror it rises 89ft into the
sky. This tower started as a fortress and
became an icon of London.
9. The Library of Alexandria
• The biggest library of it’s time, the Library of
Alexandria is probably the most famous library
in the present time. Built in 283 B.C. as a
temple to the Muses, it’s a truly remarkable
building.
15. The Empire State Building
• The Empire State Building was finished on
May 31, 1931. It was built to rival the Chrysler
building for the title “ World’s Tallest Building”,
but also to make money.
19. The Sears Tower
• The Sears Tower, renamed the Willis Tower, is
a famous landmark of Chicago. This amazing
tower was built in 1971 by the Sears company.
They wanted more room for offices than they
had.
22. Westminster Abbey
• Westminster has been the coronation church
since 1066.It is the resting place of 17
monarchs and is a very popular tourist site.
